Leon You
How do we model these? We were challenged by a client on how to model these structures using Vectorworks. Does anyone know which command should be used to create the spirals? https://oss.gooood.cn/uploads/2021/12/138-Christmas-Installation-Starstreet_AaaM-Architects.jpg Quote Link to comment
Popular Post michaelk
I think I've done this gig! This should get you close: In Front View draw the "spine" of the helix. Use the Helix command in the 3D Power Pack to create a 3D helix. Get the number of turns and size close. Convert it to a group - which will actually convert it to a NURBS curve. Now you have the path of the EAP. You can modify the curve now or after you create the EAP to get it exactly right. Then just draw your profile shape and Extrude Along Path. Below is a video that has a method for both objects. The cap was too long to be in-depth, but it may be helpful. The tree is fairly easy and should be fairly clear. Quote Link to comment
bcd
Is this for build drawings or a rendering. If the former it looks like it was designed with significant care - I think this could be a case where the designer would be happy to share the model so it can be built as accurately as possible. Leon You
Thank you, @michaelk. Thank you @VIRTUALENVIRONS Those methods are helpful! We also tried other ways to form them. For the "Sprial," we used the helix-spiral tool, then the "extrude along path tool," then the "deform tool." For the "Straw Hat," we tried to create a basic unit and then used the "add solid tool" and then the "deform tool." If we deform each unit separately, the hat will look more "circle"; otherwise, it will look "oval." And yes, @bcd. It would be best if the designer could share how he and his team built the model. I also enjoyed the fun to try with all of you. |-D 3 Quote Link to comment
