From the movies I have no idea.

Have you restarted the computer? Does this occur only in this file or in a new blank file?

Try quitting VW, move your User Folder (preferences) to the desktop and restart VW.  VW will create a new User Folder (and my ask for your serial number again).  See if this solves the problem.  If not, Quit VW, delete the new user folder and drag the old one back.

What happens if you Alt-Drag across the text? That should select it even is only a small portion is touched.

Can you post the file for us to take a look at?

If one file is not behaving properly, then it must be something in the file.

I would recommend either sending the file the VW Tech Support and see if they can fix the problem or to do a Layer by Layer copy to a new file and see if the corruption follows.

I would not recommend just continuing with the file as is.  If there is corruption it is likely that it could get worse.

And make sure you have multiple backup/archive copies so if it does crash you don't lose everything.

Sorry.

I submitted it.

Turns out that the text did not have any justification value set to vertical or horizontal in the OIP. Checking a box for those values brought back the select-ability of the text and the text edit box.

They've entered this as a bug.

Hadn't occurred to me to look at and try those values. I had figured the justification had matched the pick box location on screen.

Kinda make me feel better that a bug was found...

Thanks,

Rudy Beuc

For what it's worth ...

Read this thread the other day, then proceeded to have #@!?#@¿! issues with text.

The file in question was created in ACAD / imported so that does not help.

Essentially text was selectable, yet invisible when attempting to edit. Especially true with text that was rotated.

The OIP issue mentioned above was NOT encountered in this case.

Solution was to copy / paste the text into a new drawing and edit -

In some instances replacing the text was easier that the edit process.

Make sure your FONTs are all good in the operating system.

An alternate font alleviates many edit / VW issues with text.

Change the fonts en masse when importing may be a good Workflow

When ever VW gives me the font is to small warning I instinctively change the font.
