Sheet Renders Jagged Round Edges

HI all

Hope someone can help me in figuring this out.

The picture pretty much says it all....

Any reason why round extrudes are appearing jagged when rendered on a sheet layer?

Workaround or a way to fix it?

Its not the DPI, not the quality setting on the sheet or in the Preferences.....

Thanx in advance all....

Too many Kevins!  🙂

One thing you may want to check, are the 3d settings in the VW Prefs....

Also...you didn't mention which flavor of the 'Realistic' settings you used..'Fast' Final' act. IF you used 'Fast' it will look like hell showing the extruded circle ( I assume your extrusion was a circle?) with faceted edges, as in your screenshots.

You also may want to consider using 'Custom RW' instead of 'Realistic'?? Remember, with any of these settings if you use 'Fast' or 'Low' instead of the higher settings, the results can produce those faceted edges on round items, etc.

I did a test and did not have any issues with the faceted edges of the extruded shape..

Converting to generic solid did the trick....Thanx......Appriciate it.

Another member of my team is having the same issue.

So we're assuming its the SP4 bug, as this wasn't an issue a week or so ago.

Or could be related to ....

I am used to 3D Mesh Apps and I am used to Solid Modelers.

But I always get irritated if any CAD Solid Modelers show any clearly

rounded Solids as being triangulated or jagged circles,

even these aren't dumb Meshes.

I am aware that 3D screen graphic display also works with triangles only.

But I do not understand why in some CADs, it works sometimes without

issues, but sometimes it looks like Mesh Subdivision resolution error.

Nor do I understand why in VW, at least in earlier releases, a 2D based

Extrude of a 2D Rectangle with 2D Circle subtractions works finally great

in 3D, while a Box with 3D Cylinders subtracted, once used in additional

Solid Subtraction will degrade the circular holes to "real" polygonized

geometry.

Not just Drawing Window resolution errors ....

Maybe I missed the initial problem,

but my advice in VW, do as much as possible in 2D, before going anywhere 3D.
