mikeheacox
If I add a light source and put it in the sky, I get shadows. Not exactly a precise way of doing shadow studies! The heliodon(s) do not work, although they used to in previous versions. The heliodon layer is active, time is during daytime. Shaded render options shadows are on (and work with a light source other than a heliodon) Environmental lighting, etc. do not affect display of shadows from heliodon. No shadows appear in fast renderworks with heliodon, either. Quote Link to comment

mike m oz
Try going to top view and rendering the scene first. Quote Link to comment
Amanda McDermott
HI @mikeheacox, did you resolve this? I'm also having trouble with the heliodon in 2023... Quote Link to comment
Amanda McDermott
p.s. I switched it off and on again, and now View>Rendering>Shaded Options is giving me the option to switch on shadows, which it wasn't before... Quote Link to comment
nicovlogg
Another possibility is if the heliodon fill is set to black, it will cast a black light, aka no light. Make sure it's white. 2 Quote Link to comment
