I’ve wanted to figure out how to model this for years and couldn't find a solution till now. Window surrounds that included brick stacks (the bricks that run along side the windows), the brick sills (sometimes called rowlocks), the brick soldiers (the taller bricks that run along the top of the windows) and the keystones (the sandstone shape in the middle of the soldiers). This is how I did it: - Window symbol was put (in the window class) and gave it my desired width/height specs. - I gave it a exterior trim roughly the width of a brick (3.67”); made it very thin (1/16”); and turned off trim under the window. - I assigned a brick bond texture (with a brick bond hatch) to the exterior window trim class. So far this gives you a window with brick side stacks and trim above the window that will soon be covered up by another piece. - Then I duplicated the window in place; turned it into a cased opening; made the jambs, trims and sashes all 0”; - I turned on the “lintel” and gave it an 8” ht. ( the ht. of a soldier); and an 1/8” ext. protrusion (so it sticks out proud of the top window trim). - I assigned a brick bond texture (with hatch) that runs vertically... to the "lintel" class. - I turned on the “sill” and fooled with the specs till I had it where I wanted it. - I assigned a brick bond texture (with hatch) that runs vertically (it might be the horizontal brick bond that works) to the "sill" class. - I also increased the width of this duplicate window symbol (wide enough for the lintel above and sill below to line up with the edge of the window trim on the main window symbol). - I may have fooled with the ht. slightly so that lintels and sills all aligned properly with the ht. of the main window symbol. - I changed the class on this duplicated window symbol to “non-plot” so that it would not show up on the window schedule - Lastly, I extruded a keystone shape (these vary in size)…I made mine a little taller than the soldiers…and slid it into place.

Window Styles behave strange for me in VW 2018 SP0-1 1. Changing Styles Windows in Walls do not update reliably. Sometimes I need to pull them out of the Wall and back in. (Not 100% sure on this, could maybe be a editable Style Setting Component, but for sure I had cases where pulling out/in updated my Window) 2. Duplicating Styles May destroy/corrupt their Preview generation in Style Settings dialog. And therefore RM thumbnail and preview too. 3. a) Corner/Non Corner Windows Window Mode : Fixed Glass (Jamb+Sash+Glass) I use a Sash Depth Offset. As soon as some Windows, using that Style, are set to Corner Mode, this Offset will be ignored, sometimes even set to 0,00 in Style. All Windows will lose Sash Offset, not just Corner Mode Windows. 3. b) Corner Window : Sash Offset is controlled by Corner Settings "Corner Condition > Mode : "Corner Post", only (!), although I don't use that Mode but Flush Glass. This is the only Mode to set an Offset - but determins Sash Offset in general, when Corner Mode active for any of that Style's Windows !

I am using series of windows in a recessed wall. I was hoping it to show adjust depth of windows after achieving wall recessed. In plan I still see previous depth of the windows that was showing before wall recessed . Does somebody know how to adjust window depths according to new recessed wall? Thanks!

I have recently started using Vectorworks BIM capabilities. I am working on this project , it has this sloped window which turns into skylight. I am struggling to model this part as I am not sure which way to go. I would really appreciate If someone can lead me out of this darkness. Please see attached picture of the actual window. Thank you

I did a test this evening with an old 13" macbook pro and a brand new, maxed out, 15" pro. Vectorworks took 40 seconds to start up on both systems. Does anyone have a beefy windows laptop (xps or a gaming laptop) to let me know if it is any better? Thanks!

This happens with both Doors & Windows & I find this odd & perhaps a Bug: - Create any number of random Windows with different attributes - Choose one at random - Pick up this Window's attributes with the Eye dropper - Select with the Magic Wand & select all the windows - Apply the Eye dropper's attributes to the selected windows & they change Follow the same as above, but with the windows inserted into a wall, or series of walls - Only the one window that has been touched by the Eye dropper's bucket changes its attributes

Is there a way to select an object as normal with left click. Then when you have selected the item ...release the left mouse button and the selected object will follow the curser. Then when you get to new placement location you can left click and it will drop the item. I'm basically looking for a mode or way to not have to hold the left button mouse down while moving objects.

In VW2017 all of a sudden in elevation all Window IDs from opposite side of structure are showing. Any ideas why? Is this a bug or a setting?
