Hello all I am trying to create a worksheet that will list the individual wall components and their areas, gross and net. I can create a worksheet that nicely summarizes gross wall area and net area for my different wall types. But I haven't been able to figure out how to get the component areas which I need as some have bottom and top offsets Can anyone guide me through this? Thank you Matt

Classes not available in wall component settings dialogue.
thinkingpencil posted a question in Troubleshooting
In one file, only, a full list of the file's classes is not available when trying to change the class of a wall component. Just a very few classes show up in the drop down list, as defined by one particular class-filter. I worked around by opening a file with the same total classes and imported the wall to be edited. Changed the class, then imported the edited wall back into the first file. So it's not a Vectorworks issue, but maybe some sort of document issue. But I cannot find any setting in Document Preferences which changes this strange behaviour. But whilst looking at Document Preference settings encountered the same problem when trying to set dimensions to draw automatically in my preferred class... ...just wondering if any one else has encountered this? I was wondering is it possible to convert rendered simplified horizontal section viewport view into 2d component of a symbol? I want to create 2d/3d symbol form downloaded 3d model. When downloading 3d models from ex. 3d warehouse, It's a quite dense mesh, but if I make a horizontal section cut to the viewport I receive clear 2d simplified sketch. Is there any way to transform this viewport image into 2d polylines for future use as 2d symbol component? I have tried to fill the spaces with the polygon fill bucket but it's not working...

DATA VIS - can not control all components with material resource
drelARCH posted a question in Troubleshooting
Hi while it is possible for some objects with components (slab, wall, roof) to control their materials section fills attribute through data visualizations we can not do it with components in slabs with aligned surface (hardscape type) and new site model components which is strange...see attached screenshot with aligned slab not taking light gray solid fill from data visualizations. I dont write this post in wishlist section as this appear to me as an item that needs to be corrected ... as it is possible to control these components with materials applied using class function or other value but not by material value so only way to achieve same graphic appearance now in section viewports is to have multiple visualizations selected. Please make this process consistent throughout all components with materials. --- Another issue with mentioned objects (aligned hardscape + site model) is that it will not display 'profile line' set in 'advanced properties' in section viewports Can we have a fix for these issues?-

Hi, I attach a wall that has a wall feature attached to it. The wall has two components, one of the components (the brick cladding), has an offset relative to the wall of - 50 cm I'd like the wrapping of the feature component be done by the brick cladding but at the correct height. Is this possible? I tag @Alan Woodwell and @Matt Panzer as you both seem to know very well the wall tools. I would appreciate very much a hand!! Wall Projection and Component Wrap.vwx

Hi, I've been trying to solve this for a while now but i can't. Maybe someone can give me a hand. When I activate the caps of my wall, it caps both components with black. I'd Like the grey component to be also capped with grey. Thanks in advance

Hello everyone, I'm just trying to set a cup of wall/roof details. I have 2 questions 1) between roof and wall components VW allows us to set the connection between a specified roof component and a part of a wall. But sometimes I need to set a roof component between a specified wall component not detectable with the wall style components options. In fact, if I have more than 3 wall components (internal, main component, external) I can't select a specific option. 2) if I need to decide the visualization order of component inside a wall or a roof, how can I do this? Thank you and a good work Z Componenti_tetto.vwx

Hi, I have been trying to work my building model to a stage where basic construction sections can be taken directly from the model itself. So far I have created slabs and given each component of the slab a level within the storey. I have then assigned the components within the wall to end at those story levels (the core/structure of the wall goes to the slab, and the insulation/plasterboard ends at the finished floor level). The result are in the screen shot attached. The main issue is that you can't see the fill of the wall past the point of the finished floor. You can only see the construction lines. So far I have put this down to the stacking of the slab and wall layers. This is of course not ideal as graphically it is incorrect. I am aware you can over-ride layer stacking within the layer settings of a viewport, however this doesn't seem to be an option for a section viewport. I am having a similar issue with sending the slab to the core of the external wall, you can't see the slabs component fill as its on a different layer to the walls which are on-top. I feel I'm close to getting an actually section from the model fit for 1:50 purposes, however VW does not make it easy. Wouldn't it be great if component join tool worked in 'section in place', then instead of modelling the sitting point of every wall you could just do it for the specific section. Is anyone else having issues with this? Any suggestions for a decent workflow for solving this. Thanks.

Hello everyone, if i need to project correctly a wood house, actually i can't.. off course i would like to see all the components, in 3 dimension etc. Could be enough if it were possibile to set every single component of the wall like a frame or a panel. We could have 3 choices: standard wall, courtain wall and.. Superwall! In a superwall every component can be set like a frame or panel, and so the user can create correctly a complete house structure all made in wood. Sounds it good? Bye!

We have been trying to use the new Irrigation tools in VW2017, but are having some extreme difficulties. On top of the speed issues associated with a network recalculating after every adjustment, we have recently been experiencing repeated crashes while performing what should be basic commands. I have uploaded a screenshot video that shows the workflow and the associated crashes. It seems to happen everytime an object is connected to a pipe (i.e. valve, pipe connection, outlet, etc.) Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. http://screencast-o-matic.com/watch/cDlr0QQtKK

I have only just begun using the irrigtation tools of 2017. I have not been able to rotate irrigation component symbols (i.e. outlet object, valve, system components, etc.) when they are placed on a pipe. I have tried both the rotate tool and entering a rotation value into the rotation input of the OIP and the don't rotate.
