  2. Bit of a mix actually, if I recall correctly the first 3 are done in Bentley Architecture, the last one is a combination (ArchiCAD facades and VW 3D model), all the ones in between are VWs. I loved referencing in Microstation (my last contact was with V8 XM)....
  3. Hi, try look at these videos bellow. You can start with your current workflow (a little bit improved) and then fluently transition to full VW 3D workflow I attached alternative CAD link, but VW is definitely better And of course both apps have trial versions you can download and check. (DoubleCad has one advantage for you. It is designed to compete with AutocadLT. It has similar interface with command line, more functions than LT and it allows scripting.)

  5. Actually I didn't know what is the financial power ratio between Autodesk and Nemetschek AG ... the difference is huge ADSK vs NEM market capitalization Autodesk has 17 times higher market capitalization. No wonder they can push their products so strongly ..
  6. Google trends is rough tool, but it gives interesting results we can (at least) think about .. Where is no curiosity or even no knowledge about apps existence, there is no need to search details, ask questions and finally to buy and use the product...
  7. Sorry Blind expert but I can't agree with you Search frequencies of such generally marginal brands like VectorWorks, Revit and Archicad (compared to for example Google itself) show how popular and important these brands are inside CAD/BIM involved community. As you can see popularity of Revit is growing rapidly, Archicad stagnates and VW popularity is slowly decreasing ... Of course, popularity not necessarily correlates with actual customer basis of selected brands, but the trends are relentless. And Revitcity traffic vs VW techboard traffic is eloquent ... I wonder whether Nemetschek group has some longterm strategy how to face Revit threat. (??Better interoperability between Allplan, VW and Archicad??)
  8. This is a little bit related to the topic http://www.silex3d.com/
  9. mmmm, I forgot about AC Arch. Here in Holland nobody is seriously considering AutoCAD (most Dutch offices have plain vanilla AC) when talking about BIM. Over here, at least so it seems, it is all between VW - ArchiCAD - Revit. + Allplan and Microstation V8i
  10. 1,2 Google search database - citation: "Google Trends provides insights into broad search patterns. Please keep in mind that several approximations are used when computing these results." 3 - Wolphram alpha database - sources of informations ...

  12. What about this plugin in Vectordepot... http://www.vectordepot.com/market/VM-042Mouldings.html
  13. BIM vs Sketchup And this one is for fun .. what is the best in the world? )
  14. You can use even this method: tensile wire tensile hide tensile render For more accurate result you could generate catenary curves using some script... This is lisp catenary routine I have found .. http://www.digitalcad.com/2001/05_may/images/math/catenary.lsp Should be doable in VS for vectorscript wizards like you
  15. Wrong algorithm. Is it the same in 2011? This should be submitted as a bug ... Intermediate product - TRY and DIY ...
  16. When I want to create roof which has constant perpendicular thickness and different slopes, the roof tool generates roof with incorrect ridge ... (The option for constant vertical roof thickness is in reality useless .. rafters have usually the same perpendicular height, thickness of roof insulation is constant etc... ) slope 1 slope 2 incorrect roof ridge
