  1. I have never done that before. Could you elaborate? Thanks! Edit: Figured out how to make a focus point, but it is really tedious to have to do that to like 50 lights when I just want them to point up. Also I can't figure out how to hide the focus point symbol (don't see it over in classes) so then I end up with a bunch of little focus point symbols all over my drawing. Is there a better way possibly to do this? Thanks!
  2. Hi all, I am trying to use a Par 38 symbol to show uplighting around a room. However I cannot get the symbol to orientate correctly in 3D. I can't get it to have the base on the ground and point straight up. I have played around with every rotation I know about, but I can't figure it out. I can get it to point straight down, but not straight up. Seems like all I would have to do it change to the 3D rotation 180 deg, but when I do that it doesn't work like I think it should. Is there something I am missing? Thanks!
  3. When I use the flyover tool, I can only manipulate one layer at a time, when I need all of them to act in 3D together. Is there a way to get all my layers to behave together? Thanks!
  4. Nevermind, found it! I guess I have to use the truss tool as opposed to the symbols that come with Vectorworks. Appreciate the help!
  5. Is there a way to say that I would like object A to be x-distance from Object B and have it do it automatically without me having to measure it? Thanks!
  6. Where do I find the hanging angle? All I can find is the rotate angle. Thanks!
  7. I have attached two screen shots to hopefully illustrate what I am trying to do. I am drawing a truss plot, and in 3D I want to be able to view the legs of the truss standing up, but I don't know how to do that. Can someone possibly show me the step that I missing here? Thanks so much!
  8. I know this post was a while ago.. but I just found it and now I need to know how what to do with the symbol once you get it? I can't figure out how to get into my library and have access to it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
  9. Hi there, I am trying to draw a stage plot with some truss, but I can't figure out how to draw it so it is correctly viewable in multiple views (top/front/right etc). In top view I would think that the truss would only look like a square since it would be extruded down, and then in from front view you would be able to see the whole stick of truss. But I can't figure out how to do this. Maybe I have things confused but could really use some help. I could sketch out what I am trying to do if that would help anyone. Thanks!!
  10. Thank you. How do I find out what units the DWG is in?
  11. I am trying to import a .dwg file, but I can't get the scaling to work out. I have click don even single size possible and none of them work. The drawing is either gigantic or way to small, and then when I try and drop symbols in they are the totally wrong size as well. I usually don't have any issue with PDFs, but the .dwg is making it difficult. If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it. Thank you!
  12. Here are two screen shots so you can see what is going on. Thanks!
  13. Ok, I cannot figure this out. I tried making a texture but I cannot figure out how to apply it, plus it looks like it is tiled, which is not what I want. I have been trying to figure this out in VW help, but it is anything but helpful. I have now spent hours on this seemingly simple project and am getting so frustrated Could someone please act like I am a 5 year old and walk me through this, because clearly I am missing some vital step that I should just know, but clearly don't. I really really appreciate the help here, but I am stuck by own lack of knowledge of certain things that I am sure would make this process go by so much easier. Teaching myself VW is rather difficult and slow going (yes, I would take classes if they were affordable). I think my client is just going to have to use their imagination on this one as I have hit a wall and can't seem to get around it. Thanks again for your help guys. I will try this again at a later date, but for now I have other projects I have to get finished today.
