  1. All valid options, but i like the simple "Stripped Down" version proposed by Vincent best.
  2. i was advised by local support staff to avoid Grouping due to several knock on effects which caused problems with editing and placing of Symbols. Can't remember exactly what any more, but i was happy to solve the glitch and stopped Grouping as a result. So the suggestion's still valid for me.
  3. Bruce, It does seem absurd that it is necessary to have to bounce to and fro within the various planes when it all worked fine without them. Mike, Once again i must complement you on your patience and understanding of easy made difficult and dedication to explaining it. Thanx . . . Andi
  4. i've been moaning about the "Sorry State" of the "Extrude" tools for years and was beginning to believe it was just me that was too fenichetty . . . . . . Glad to see Bruce, that i am not totally crackers.
  5. However one uses the RB it doesn't change the fact that it has been in need of a "Progressive Update"(Not Radical/Drastic) for, what, ten years? I'm OK with "How", choice is good, it's just the organisation/viewing could do with a wash and brush up! No hiding, renaming, removing, corrupting, or retiring as for the most part just more control would improve things no end.
  6. +1 more. While the WorkSpace Editor was sort-of-OK as a a concept it really could do with a Catch-Up Crash Course. Vincents Drag&Drop "In VW" suggestion is very apt as the editor is perhaps a little long winded only being able to deal with one palette at a time. Side by Side view would be a very practical solution too. Andi
  7. Let me dig some up for you, i'll need to trim their bulk a little or just paste to a new file.
  8. +1 Although last time i looked, both of these tools individually, could only Chamfer or Fillet about 45% of the objects i put it to task on. Not the case with any other competition CAD package.
  9. Once again, please forgive my ignorance, but . . . as i have no quarms in slating what VW has left out(and it's still a big list) but surely using the "Layer" system and the the "View" menu most of these requirements can be found and the Numerical Keypad Shortcuts gives a very Rapid response. "Bottom View"(Cmd+*) anyone?
  10. That's scary considering a large part of the user base is an international one. Step one would be to increase the architectural knowledge, step 2 would be to increase international architectural knowledge, sounds remote . This is what REALLY %i$$*d me off about NAG dropping the MD Modual of VW, but at least it seemed that NAG aimed in the direction dedicated to the profession they claim to support. . . . . Not much good if "You" still don't get what you want.
  11. Kevin, Chad, Not a criticism, just an option. This is just another one of the many situations that could really do with a Toggle Switch.
  12. What, even if you keep both Workspaces(1 for one screen and 1 for two screens) in the WS Menu?
  13. Chad & Kevin, this is a "Workspace" thing. Yes it would be nice to have a presets Toggle switch, but in the meantime on each machine save the setup in the Palettes Menu (Save Palette Positions), then hunt down the folder VW has just indicated were it has saved it Mac/Library/Application Support/Vectorworks/Year.noindex/Workspaces/"Your Personal Gubbins" . . . . . Give it a recognizable name! Save a copy on a USB stick. Then you can drop it into the "Workspace Folder" on absolutely any Mac you work on and select your Workspace from the Workspaces Menu. This will not mess up someone elses VW. Just remember before you hand it back to them you reselect the WS they were using. Not so sure about a windows box but shouldn't be too dissimilar. Not as good as a Toggle Switch, but it does the job. Andi
  14. i agree with most of your "Big Five" and this has been a must have for too long, but i would like detachable Panes, so i can put a "Main" 3D view on one monitor and the other three views on a second and even a third monitor with a toggle ability for the main view that allows you to flick through all keeping reference available to all views. As for the practical side Christiaans 2D/3D argument, i prefer to work in 3d, but anyone on the production side of the divide still needs 2D to work from and until the day arrives that cars and shopping malls can be created with a 3Dprinter in one shot, 2D drawings are still going to be a necessary part of the CAD process.
  15. So what's that, 3 releases that this has needed fixing?
  16. Yeah me too. i use the "Tape" but when i need precise measurements, i use the "Line Tool" and grab the bits from the OIP. Hardly ideal, but does the job. Add my vote to the Wish List BC!
  17. How can an annoyance like this be considered "Little"? Very little has been done to improve any of the "Annoyances" of any of the "Extrusion Tools" since version . . . . i can't even remember when. It really is time ALL the Extrude Tools and any variation had a serious shake up! Which probably includes all the 3D Tools.
  18. This has been a bit of a Mute point for as long as i can remember, many For, many Against. Thing is, you should be able to rotate a 3D Symbol/Hybrid on any Axis, and the 2D object/representation should automatically adapt to show what's happened and in doing so VW should keep a copy of the original "As Was" with the option to jump back to view it and return to the modified "Rotation" as and when needed. Today's machines have the power to both calculate and store all of this data and keep it updated, only the software running on them can keep them from doing it . . . . . .
  19. Agreed on both Rod! i don't use much 2D/hybrids, but Makes perfect sense. . . . As for the 2nd point, ALL the Extrude tools have always needed fixing comprehensively,(too many workarounds taken to get decent results, if even possible) but EAP is still Particularly restricted in it's capabilities . . . . . . Andi
  20. Requests to bring VW up to speed with the hardware the software is running on has mentioned one or twice. Glad to see it hasn't been relegated to the backwaters. Rebuild anyone?
