  1. I'm certainly ready to jump on the bandwagon here. I've been using VW for six months and, in my opinion, the stair PIO is in the greatest need of repair. It works just well enough to sell VW but not well enough to actually use it once you get into a project with VW. In addition to many of the issues mentioned above, railings need a great deal of help. We need a greater variety of railing styles to chose from, ability to chose from a variety of top rails, newels, and balusters, ability to return ends to the wall (or another railing,) and the handrail tool needs to be coordinated with the stair tool so that both tools offer the same types of railings and the same options for their configuration. For the stair tool to be of any use in a 3d drawing, the railing issues must be addressed.
  2. I CAN'T BELEVE MORE PEOPLE HAVEN'T COMMENTED ON THIS! The fact that we can't do this now seems like a HUGE oversight to me. The lack of this ability means that one must resort to non-associative hatch for anything that requires a controllable starting point. I would VERY MUCH like to see this ability added to VW.
  3. It does seem like even a simple text style system that allowed a combination of font, size, and color to be named would be pretty useful. It would make setting up office standards a lot easier. Making it accessible as a settings button or drop-down in the Text and Callout tool data bars would make it easy to select the right style of text for any given situation. Having the text dynamically associated with a style so that changes to the style result in changes to all existing text of that style would also be great. That way you could do things like use hand letter font during schematic design and easily change to non-hand letter for later stages. I'm not sure we need full-on page layout capabilities but VW could certainly use a bit more control. Being able to control font width and set all caps would be a good start.
  4. I'm with Chris. This should just be the way things operate out of the box.
  5. I would like to see this feature added too.
  6. I agree. This would be a great addition. As it stands now, associative dimensions are lost to offices that break files up to facilitate work by more than one person at a time.
  7. I agree. This would be a great addition.
  8. I just spoke to NNA tech support about this issue. They were able to replicate the "Menu cannot be found..." error on a "clean" SP2 install and my "Index outside array limits" error message with my file on their machine so it looks like the issue might be related to SP2. The weird thing is, I have a file created before SP2 that allows me to create standard viewports without any error messages. The tech support guy said he'd log the issue and get back to me when he had more information.
  9. Sig, thanks for the recommendation to put the copyright date in as a "Project" element and change it that way. I actually tried that but wasn't able to insert the copyright symbol this way. I considered putting the copyright symbol in the titleblock and the date in as a Project element but didn't for fear of alignment issues (and lack of time.) I'm still getting things set up (only been on VW for 6 months) so I have had to change other things on the fly too so I'd really like an easier solution for this problem. Pat, I get that this behavior is a result of the titleblock being tied to the drawing border but I HAVE different fonts in my titleblock and they seem to work just fine. Robert, thanks for the tip. I'll look for that VS.
  10. I had something similar happen to me a while ago with 12.5. I called tech support and they had me delete preference files which fixed the problem. I'm on a mac and I see that you're on a PC - I don't know if that would work for you. I WOULD recommend calling tech support.
  11. I'm really talking about the layout. I'm not having any trouble editing the "dynamic" content by double clicking or using the Issue Manager. The problem is when I change something that is not dynamic. As an example, I have a copyright date on my titleblock. In the Resource Browser, I right clicked on the titleblock and selected Edit. I changed the copyright date and exited symbol edit mode. I expected the titleblocks that I had already placed in the drawing to show the change that I just made but they did not. If I double-clicked on a titleblock, which opened the Edit Titleblock dialog box, and clicked OK without making any changes, THEN the titleblock would update. Why doesn't the titleblock update after edit like any other symbol?
  12. I'm using a custom titleblock inserted onto a sheet layer with a border. When I edit the titleblock symbol via the resource manager, it doesn't update in the drawing unless I double click on each to edit issue manager info and then click OK without making any changes. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a way to update the symbol automatically? Thanks.
  13. OR you can simply use (or create) a titleblock symbol that works with Issue Manager.
  14. I am also getting this error message. First I got a different message on another file ("Error: _3336 _3339 - Index outside array limits.") Then I started a new file and got the Menu cannot be found... message. I'd also like to know what to do about it. Apparently someone with 11.5 had a similar problem but there's no solution listed on this forum ( http://techboard.nemetschek.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=30051&page=1#Post30051 ).
  15. I just looked and I had this file in my root directory also. Mine had a lot more than "gList is valid!" in it. It looked like it was related to a DXF import or export (although I can't remember the last time I did either.) I deleted it and started VW. A new one was NOT created at start up. The last modified date on mine was the day that I updated from SP2 Build 82099 to SP2 Build 82613 - perhaps you should try updating to the latest build of SP2.
  16. I am now having this exact problem with VW2008. Did you or anyone ever find a solution?
  17. Mine shows up as Build 82099 too. I installed SP2 a couple of days after it was released. What the...?
  18. I've only been using VW for a short time but I can't imagine NOT using the wall tool. The coordination with the door and window tools make it pretty easy to quickly draw a 2d plan that also happens to be a 3d model. The fact that you can link wall height to layer height and/or set wall heights with the PIO make it pretty easy to make quick models. I'll admit that the joinery could use some help but I still think that drawing with walls is better than trying to use lines or rectangles. I also think that wall joinery has gotten better with VW2008 SP2 (either that or I've just gotten more used to the tools.)
  19. When I add a new layer to a file that already has viewports set up, the new layer is added as visible in the existing viewports. This is a pain because I then need to go back and change the layer visibilities for all existing viewports. Is there a way to keep new layers being made visible in existing viewports?
  20. Oops - I missed that you were on a PC. There should be an entry for VW in Control Panels>Add/Remove Programs. If you use that to remove the program, it should remove all associated files and registry entries.
  21. What about preference files and Application Support folders?
