  1. You can also try Convert to NURBS and then use Model > 3D PowerPack > Stitch and Trim Surfaces. That creates a Generic Solid.
  2. OK - just checked and if you just search the contents, it's cunningly hidden. However, if you click on Index, and type Model in the search box, you'll find it. You need to have your layers set up at the correct elevation for each floor and they need to intersect your solid object. It's really handy. It's under AEC > Space Planning > Model to Floorplan
  3. Thanks Christiaan! Dworks, what kind of geometry have you used to create your modifiers? There isn't a magic class that will do this, but you could convert the geometry back to either 3D Polygons or 3D Loci, right-click on the model and choose Edit Site Model Source Data. Then, paste these modifiers in place. Click Exit Site Model Source Data, update, and they will change the existing site for you. Hope that helps
  4. What about creating an Extrude and then using Model to Floorplan to convert it to walls?
  5. I concur with Peter, but would add that you can create a Site Model Snapshot. This is a copy of the model which has frozen graphic settings (e.g. existing or proposed, mesh solid, 2D contours etc). It is a snapshot of settings, not of the development of the model, so if it's set to show proposed, it will continue to update as you change the main model. The Snapshot is created on the Object Info palette with Create Site Model Snapshot. Once created, put it on a different layer. Then, one viewport can include the main model and another can show the snapshot.
  6. Hi Not automatically, but if you select the viewport and on the Object Info palette, change the X and Y coordinates to 0 and 0, the viewport will at least move onto the page.
  7. Hi Stephen The grid won't show when the sheet is printed or exported and only shows where there is pure white in the scene. Try copying and pasting the viewport into Photoshop and you'll see the grid isn't there. Regarding the difference in renders, are you sure there are no other differences in the viewport render settings? Remember that dpi is only really going to make a difference on paper. Looking at it with on screen resolution. Have you tried printing the different viewports, or making sure you view them at 100% to compare?
  8. You can edit the site model source data to add your points. Right click on the model and choose Edit Site Model Source Data. Then, add your 3D Locus points and click Exit Site Model to incorporate the changes. An alternative method is to use Stakes. The Stake tool produces a hybrid object that shows a 2D marker and the elevation, and includes a 3D Locus at the correct height. This stake can modifier the site - set its mode to Site Modifier and choose to modify the Existing site. This differentiates it from modifiers that will change the site according to your design proposals. Hope that helps

  10. Then you need more than one pad. The pad you have at the moment just creates a large rectangular flat area that dips into the terrain. You can have other pads at different levels, and you can of course add slope to each of them individually. Just be aware that pads must not touch, or one of the vertices at the touch point will be ignored and you will not get the result you are expecting. If you add other pads, you will of course get a Fill calculation, but at the moment you haven't given the site model any indication that you are filling anything. Hope that helps.
  11. Well, with your model, you are creating a pad that moves the surface of the site below the current surface, so you are only creating a cut area for your building. You are not adding any volume to the site, only excavating the site. To create Fill, you would need perhaps another site modifier, that raises the surface of the model in some way. Then the Fill value would be other than 0. Alternatively, you could use a site modifier set to Grader to retain the profile of the site, but add perhaps a few centimeters over it. This would create a fill value also. Hope that makes sense.
  12. Just looked again... in the case of this model, there is no fill, only cut. Forgive me if I am misunderstanding the problem. P.S. If you turn off the 3D Grid on the model, you'll get rid of the wierd triangulation occurring on the pad.
  13. Hi Rob Are you still not seeing a cut and fill calculation? I was able to get this information on the Object Info palette with your model. Just click Update Cut and Fill Calculations. I am glad you enjoyed the webinar by the way!
  14. Actually - I just sent the boundary to the back, updated the model and I am not seeing the same thing. I get a clean drop from the boundary to the pad.
  15. They are slight problems where the pad is being triangulated back to the nearest piece of source data. I recommend you put in another pad - just 1mm offset from the original, and set it to the desired height for the top of the "pit". Alternatively, instead of creating a pad (which will flatten the top level - maybe undesirable), create a 3D Polygon and send it to the surface. Then put this in the Site-DTM Modifiers class. This will force the triangulation to come from here instead of the nearest piece of source data. Hope that makes sense.
  16. Got it! Turn off Draw 3D on both the Boundary and the Pad and you'll see your model update - together with cut and fill calculations. Hope that helps

  21. Existing - and the file originated in 2012, has been through the pre SP1 crashing issues, but is absolutely fine now. I think something else may be causing your crash...
  22. Christiaan I am able to update referenced files(design layer viewport) in SP2 without a problem.
  23. Yes - Glow is a lovely option. You do need to have Indirect Lighting on in the lighting options to get the full effect, but it's nice. And it does render faster than Area Lights!
  24. No - it's the angle of elevation and Azimuth stored within the embedded directional light that controls the direction of light. The position on the plan is immaterial.
