Thanks JimW. A related question, can a search be performed across all resource libraries (Open File, Favorites, VSS Online Libraries, etc) or do you have to first select the source from the folder list on the left?

JimW: when you start typing a search for say 'metal' in the Resource Manager, do you first have to select what type of resource you're looking for (Renderworks Texture, Wall, Hatch, etc) - OR - will it show all resources in one window that contains 'metal' in either the file name or tag, no matter what type of resource? JimW: 1) where the Resource Manager screenshot shows 'VSS Online Libraries', how will that work? Some of those files are very large (+100MB), and if they live only in the Cloud (and not on your local HD), you'd be relying on a very fast internet connection. 2) Does the Resource Manager 'Search' function support wildcard searches? I am currently having problems in Vw2016 that are being caused by a corrupt user account (problems that I did not have in Vw2015 with the same user account). I found this VwKB article on upgrading your Operating System, but clicking on the link on how to repair the original account (quoted below) takes me to a page that says 'Authorization Required'. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Thanks JimW. I really hope that the Resource Manager gets into 2017. (As well as releasing the new community forum, gaaah! Enough with the network time-outs, it seems like they're happening more frequently. Hopefully the forum gremlins know their days are numbered).

Changing the title of this thread from 'Vectorworks 2017' to 'Vectorworks Development' begs the obvious question: How many of these improvements / new features can we expect in Vw2017?

Take a look at the Needle and Mortar wiki. It is completely separate from these Vw user forums but it exists for the very purpose.

The Resource Manager with full library live search will be such a time-saver. Nice work!

I just submitted another bug report for this. Any progress on a fix for this bug? It's really annoying.

You can do something similar currently with Sheet Layer Viewport Class Overrides, which I think is more flexible than what you're requesting. Select the SLVP, click the Classes button on the OIP, and change the class appearance to whatever you want. Changing the Class Properties of Sheet Layer or Design Layer Viewports : Vw2016 Help

I wish that the C4D engine was integrated even more fully, as it seems that we only have access to a very limited portion of C4D's shader functionality. See how ArchiCAD 100% integrated the C4D engine when they switched over to it, even so far as allowing ArchiCAD to directly read C4D material files. Another +1 for a "small" residential renovation / addition project as billtheia suggests. Also include discussion about how to use (or not use) the not-so-new Levels / Stories system. This might be worth a tutorial by itself, as it is utterly confusing how to effectively use them. Personally, I've been disapponted when the GSG is essentially the same as the previous version year(s) GSGs. There might be a new little bit about some new feature, like with the Curtainwall tool, but the rest is virtually unchanged.

Vector Depot has an older file containing the Simpson Strong-Tie Catalog already converted to Vw Symbols. It does date from 2008 - much of it may be out of date. Symbols - Vector Depot
