  1. Hello, A student had this weird error, when changing from 2D to 3D view. See attached video. Anyone with a solution for this? (macOS Catalina & VW2020). Cheers, JB VW_macbook_3D_issue.mp4
  2. Iconpacks are not a solution but a gimmick. Anyone remembering Kaleidoscope from the old days? This was a control panel on the Mac (pre OSX) where you could change the overall look of fonts & icons. If we all like the icons from the marketing promos that much, why not have them make the one set for R&D we all seem to favor over this early try on the new GUI?
  3. Our students use AR showing their interior designs to clients. I can send you some, but I’m sure @Alex Nicol can help you here as well with examples. Let me know it there is anything I can do for you! Cheers, JB
  4. True , I didn’t realize that. Under File > Document preferences you can tick Save viewport cache in the Display tab. Would that help speeding up the re-render process for you?
  5. Would it be an option to print the SL as a pdf? On Mac it can by default, on Windows you might need an Adobe PDF driver.
  6. Very cool!! And it is from a static pov, right? @Alex Nicol: Can’t wait to see this quality in Nomad’s AR, hehe… 😉 @Rick did you see this? Now VR too can have the quality you’ve been looking for!
  7. Hi @Jim, thank you for all the support, humor, bright voice overs, webinars, design summit tech talks and everything else you have been to ‘us’. Hope to see you again and wish you and the ones you love all the best! Cheers, JB
  8. Cmd+shift+4 would have saved you some money…
  9. I read options are little and limited and that there is dedicated software around, but would it be possible to do this in VW? I’m still working on that ski tow I posted some time ago – actually my students are… – and was thinking maybe #Marionette has some commands/scripts that will be of any help?
  10. Hit print is exactly what we do using the laser with .ai files. Apparently it comes down to the capabilities of the ‘printing’ software, not so much the source. This functions as a hub to the laser software where material settings are done. Might come in handy for VW as well?
  11. I’m sorry I meant ExtraGroup of course and will edit my original post. All credits to you guys for interiorcad! 😱
  12. All screendumps in the link you mention are from a Mac (see button style on top). If the gcode generator is cross platform itself ‘most of the times’ it doesn’t matter to what platform the machine is connected. We use Cura for our 3D printers, which has gcode files as output as well. It doesn’t matter on what platform the Vectorworks model is exported to .STL from to be loaded in Cura.
  13. SVG stands for Scalable Vector Graphics and is an export option from Adobe Illustrator, etc. We sometimes used it for our laser cutters, until we were able to proces native .AI files.
  14. Well, in the real world it’s all about me having the right network when I’m not capable in doing something myself. The people I work most frequently with are the ones that understand me.
  15. Maybe acqui…, ehr teaming up with ComputerWorks would get things rolling?
  16. There is a plugin/add-in from ComputerWorks in Germany that’s called InteriorCad. We’re aiming to use this for furniture making at school here very soon! Works seamlessly & cross-platform with Vectorworks…
  17. Cool stuff! We may or may not be experimenting here at my school to get interiorcad up and running for a cnc job in furniture production (or anything else that will apply). Our team Furniture Design was looking for an ‘intuitive, flexible and intelligent’ 3D app. I may or may not have advised them to choose the obvious… 😇
  18. … or maybe have no background instead of white?
  19. Are later viewports rendering correctly, or are they completely black? When you said ‘at the very last second’ I was thinking it might be a gpu issue, ie that the card is ‘full’…?
  20. Hehe, I know a lot of you boat guys are very helpful, which I appreciate a lot. If I will not be able to have it done in VW, I’ll consider asking some of you to provide the flats. I still like to think VW could do the trick, it only needs to combine some existing possibilities… 😇
  21. Hi Art, thanks for your reply. The boat itself is fairly simple (it’s a ski tow wooden boat) and has been made before, but without CAD for the production part of it. We manage to have the hull in 3D in the correct shape and all. It’s ‘just’ that we need to extract the sides in order to send it to our CNC…
  22. Thanks for your advise, I’ll try this myself first as well… 🤓 But the main question still stands: how can I have VW do the trick of unfolding a hull? Be it #Marionette, #VectorScript or a hidden trick almost noone remembers, I can’t stand my favorite cad brand hides its hand 😇
  23. Forget the intelligent textures, why not have our skates on and let #Marionette take care of it! Anyone in the room willing to try & complete the ‘unfold double curved surface’ challenge?
  24. Thanks! I'll have a look... 😉 Come to think of it, wouldn't it be nice to have 'intelligent' textures that can unfold in 2D the same way they are projected on an object?
  25. Hi Claes, this is awesome! But you leave me no other option than to ask the name of the progam you use for the unfolds…
