  1. I'm dooring a door schedule with about 500 doors, which takes up about 3 A1s, which says to me I'm probably going abou it the wrong way. But, in any case, how do you present a Worksheet if you want to split it onto multiple pages?
  2. But do you have the same problem with Mighty Mouse in other applications?
  3. Okay, I'll give it a go and get back to you. In the examples above I would want anyone to be able to unlock them, so it simply acts as a reminder to people that they should think before they act. But the option of imposing an admin password would probably be handy in some instances too (probably best hooked into the native OS security on Windows and Mac OS X).
  4. WGR, from my experience, needs very careful oversee and management, so you'd probably create more management issues than you solve.
  5. Similar to this request: http://techboard.nemetschek.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Number=72229 I'd like the ability to organise hatches (in the attributes pulldown menu) like we can classes, into groups. There're probably a bunch of other things in VectorWorks that this philosophy could be applied to too, like layers, as above, and wall styles.... maybe others.
  6. It would be nice if there was a Cancel button when importing symbols (with the same name as symbols already in the file). At the moment there is only "Replace," "Rename," or "Use." If you've just imported a whole folder of new symbols with the same name a cancel button can come in handy, so you can have a think about what you're doing first. Same probably goes with some aspects of Work Group Referencing.
  7. When pasting or importing an object which includes Classes that are not currently in my file I'd like VectorWorks to give me the option of reassigning each of those classes on the fly.
  8. In Mac OS X (and probably Windows) there is the ability to lock files and folders. Not necessarily with a password but you can lock them and if someone wants to edit them in some way they have to unlock them first. I'd like to have this ability within VectorWorks, i.e. I'd like to be able to lock certain aspects of our resources and templates. In a perfect world everybody in an office would know that they shouldn't create their own classes wily nilly. And they would know that they shouldn't simply edit standard symbols but instead duplicate and rename them first. But, although I'm working on it, we don't live in a perfect world. So there are things that I'd just like to lock down. Not neccesarily with a password, but just to create an extra step to flag up to people that "hey, there must be a reason this is locked, maybe I should ask first before changing that." So, for instance, one thing I'd really like to lock would be the top level of the class structure. i.e I'd like to stop people from adding new top-level classes to their files. And if someone pastes in some random object with new top-level classes VectorWorks would say "Can't do that sorry, either you have to unlock the top level of classes or you need to reassign the incoming classes." The other thing would be standard symbols. So in order for people to change certain symbols they'd either be forced to unlock it or duplicate and rename them first.
  9. I don't understand what Ricasha means by "folder." Is this a native OS file system folder, or some kind of folder within VectorWorks, like a symbol folder?
  10. Well spotted Rick, that's looks to be where the problem lies. I haven't quite worked out exactly what it is yet. I've had a play around editing the hatch but still having problems importing into AutoCAD.
  11. Are you sure you went to the Stair Settings (select stair object, then click on Settings in Object Info palette). Then click on the General tab. Then, under "2D Detail" click on the pulldown menus for End Marker and Start Marker, clicking on Edit, and then change the Length figure to suit. Here too you can change whether it's an arrow, circle or line too.
  12. Yeah, it appears that the arrow attributes do not take on the new scale. One workaround I noticed (which would be drawing manually) is to go into General Settings tab and then edit the End and Start Markers to suit (the units are incorrect but you'll be able to get them looking right).
  13. A workaround is to put the VectorWorks folder in the Finder Sidebar. That way you can select it without having to scroll down in the installer.
  14. I get to the point where it asks me to choose a folder (presumably the VW applications folder) and it then crashes when I go to scroll down and choose the folder. Anyone else having the same prob?
  15. Sent it at same time I started this thread Katie, cheers. Yeah I know what Microstation is, just that we're a Mac-only office (well except for emulation). Except that Katie can't, we can't, and neither could the engineers. So looks very likely that AutoCAD 2006 has a problem with the file, rather than just a user configuration problem. And this being the case, it doesn't matter much if other programs can open such files; we need AutoCAD 2006 users to be able to open them.
  16. Tried many different export options, including earlier version, but didn't help. Microstation? Is that a Windows program?
  17. Set up a file how you want your template to be, then "Save As Template..." as "Default.sta" to (overwriting the existing file): Applications > VectorWorks 12.5.1 > Templates
  18. Unlikely, Nemetschek have a long history of leaving their subsidiaries to it. See: http://techboard.nemetschek.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Number=71699 And: http://lists.nemetschek.net/cgi-bin/wa.exe?A1=ind0701b&L=vectorworks-l#12
  19. Yeap, add ArchiCAD to the list. It's ridiculous. I'm tempted to send this thread to the people we were sending the file to.
  20. Yeah, there were other groups in the file though, so I don't think it's because it's a group. And I had no problem importing back into VW, or Google Sketchup. Just AutoCAD 2006 has a problem.
  21. I find that often I'd prefer to edit a Symbol?say an electrical layout?in the context of its surrounding so it would be good if there was an option to edit the Symbol in place with the surrounding objects visible, like you can with a Group.
  22. We had a file recently which had an object which was causing AutoCAD not to be able to open the exported DWG file. After a laborious process of elimination I finally whittled it down to this object. I've submitted it as a bug, but I've had this problem before and there's got to be a better way of finding such objects than the process of elimination.
  23. How hard can it be to implement this? VectorWork's doesn't even need to be touched. It seems bizaare that we don't have this plugin yet.
  24. Bingo, thanks Ray and others. Good idea Darrell. Although I know a lot of advanced tools in VectorWorks, sometimes I'm very lacking in the lower level stuff that's been there for ages, because, well, I haven't been around for ages.
  25. (or command on a Mac) Yeah, that's not bad, but you have no control over where you actually zoom to. What I had in mind was a key that activated the Zoom In or Out, at which point you could draw a marquee to zoom, and then when you're done with zooming simply release the key you were holding (just as you would with the Space Bar for the Pan Tool). At the moment all I know of is C and V shortcuts to switch to Zoom In and Out, but then you've got to click something to go back to the tool you were using.
