  1. Nested Layers (or nested viewing of Layers) has been requested in another thread or two on this forum; it's clearly a popular request but doesn't appear to have been implemented in VW 13 as far as I can tell. To add: not only would it be useful for grouping similar types of Layers together but it would also be very useful for getting the less important Layers out of immediate view, such a floor model layers, which currently serve nicely to clutter up viewing.
  2. Yes. Use the Workspace Editor (Tools > Workspace Editor). Look under Document Context and Object Context in the Menus tab of the Workspace Editor.
  3. Could you maybe scan and post parts of each page?
  4. So basically, comparisons with the competition are valid when criticising VW but not the other way round.
  5. Well you agreed with those who were comparing VectorWorks unfavourably to AutoCAD, etc.
  6. Doubt it. We haven't got reinforced concrete yet either.
  7. Is the Feature Matrix PDF incorrect? http://download2.nemetschek.net/www_misc/2008FeatureMatrix.pdf There're a load of features that apparently only exist in Fundamentals and Designer.
  8. I think the feature matrix might be wrong.
  9. Not sure what the upgrade process is from 11.5 but you won't need both Fund and Arch. You only need one, Arch in this case.
  10. I heard someone mention that this PIO is currently being updated, so I don't expect we'll be waiting for a major upgrade for this tool to be fixed.
  11. Pricing in the UK is meant to be available from today.
  12. Where do I download the v13 30-day trial from? I'm sure Katie mentioned it. Or maybe it isn't a download?
  13. The point is wezelboy, a good many people don't *want* to know about this stuff. They've got enough on their plate as it is. Many people just want to use their machines to get stuff done, not learn how it does it. And this is what I was alluding to earlier. There is not a culture in the GNU/Linux community which says: we want to help others just do stuff. Instead it's a culture of "well if you don't know that you shouldn't be using a computer in the first place!" This, and not any technical or resource deficiency, is the reason GNU/Linux will probably never catch up with Mac OS X.
  14. Yeah but what do they actually look like in the working environment? Do they just look like walls from plan view (which is fine with me) or do they show individual parts like the image seems to suggest, which would blow me away.
  15. I couldn't find anything on section wall components except this image: http://www.nemetschek.net/gfx/2008/newfeatures/WallSection.jpg One of those little movies would be quite good, or some screen shots. (Katie, is that your voice in the demos?)
  16. Underwhelmed? This is one of the best upgrades to date in my opinion. Some of the changes in v13 have been a very long time coming. I especially like improvements made to 2D workflow and general usability, and the CAD management stuff is a bloody god send. I don't think NNAs mantra that they've "listened to feedback" is too far off the mark to be honest. Geez, they even got round to Mac OS X Spotlight search integration.
  17. They cancelled it. It's not being released now. Christmas is cancelled too.
  18. Yeah, I'm wondering if Robert's viewpoint is tempered by the way this new rotation feature actually works in practice.
  19. Sounds a bit bizarre to me. Why do you *need* to use cm to notate 1000mm?
  20. Yeah my clock's gone crazy too. Guess it's one of those McMansion clocks aimed at the U.S. market?
  21. Computers Unlimited couldn't hold a piss up in a brewery. ...although they do host a nice VW event each year.
  22. Thanks Pat, I should be going to bed anyway.
  23. Unfortunately I end up having to use Windows at least each week. I find it amusing that you have "proper anti-virus software," a bonus compared to Mac OS X to be sure! Occasionally I'm roped into helping people with their Windows machine because they see me enjoying helping other people with their Macs. What they don't usually understand is that most of the time I'm not actually fixing *problems* with people's Macs but simply showing them how to get more out of their machine. When it comes to helping people with Windows though, it's usually because something has gone wrong.
