  1. Thanks, i did test this as well. Placing all on same layer: no difference. Placing only the symbols on layer below: no difference. I think it remains a mystery... But having this working now, an automated display is a huge gain for me.
  2. Good point @Pat Stanford , I checked this, but in this case that wasn't the problem. But I just found the solution.: for unknown reason, the formula doesn't see the SpaceObject.. now I've drawn a polygon around the border of the room and given it a name in OIP this polygon: 'Entree_LOC'. I have now succeeded with the following formula: =IF(COUNT(INOBJECT & INSYMBOL & (S='P1') & (L='00 Layout') & (LOC='Toilet_LOC'))>0; 'X'; '') So no I have “X” in a worksheet when at least one instance of symbol (i.e. V1) lies inside the room (i.e. Entree). 🥰 So thanks @Tom W. (for the tip on the 3D locus)!
  3. "It’s driving me nuts🤣! I opened your file and tried copying the exact formula to the cell next to it, but it gave me a '#CVAL?' error. Even inserting a fresh column makes all the cells corrupt."
  4. See what you mean, I found it strange it's not working cause it's just a formula....anyway thanks for the effort @Tom W. hopefully @michaelk still can have al look.. 🙏🏼
  5. Tried it in your file as well So in other word I copies your formula and pasted it in your file and also copies the file with your formula and pasted it in the cell next to it.
  6. Ok I added the 3D locus, still no result...
  7. @Tom W. I just adapted your formula to the data in my document (=IF((GETSPACENUMFOROBJ(SYMBOLNAME='V1')='Entree'),'X','') and it gives no results unfortunately...
  8. @michaelk I know I previously said to sum all the symbols, but that was only because it was the only way to make it work at the time. This is the report I want to complete. There is no need to total the symbols (or texts, if that makes it easier) — for example, “V1” — for this report. Instead, I need a mark — an “X” — for each symbol or text present in the room. For example, “V1” represents a specific floor finish, and “P1” a specific ceiling finish. This way, the contractor knows exactly which materials to apply in each room. Ideally, when a symbol or text is added or removed, the corresponding “X” in the report should update automatically. Sample file attached. afwerkstaat test VWX forum.vwx Screenshot of rooms and and the accompanying report: Screenshot of (Tom's) Simple version :
  9. Maybe @michaelk can you help me out please?
  10. See here all the names of the objects I used i.e. SpaceObject, symbol and a printscreen of the record and the formular =COUNT((S='W1') & (LOC='Kitchen')) Can Anyone help me out please?
  11. It should be straight forward according to chatgpt, but I do not get it working I am afraid. I did find out how to make Spaceobject : but the default had too many function so I deleted some (ie m2), maybe I made it corrupt? count symbol in Space object.docx
  12. Interesting! I am doing some research now (with the help of ai and some tutorials). Keep you posted!
  13. It's not like I don't want to use Spaces, I'm not familiar with this feature of what this means.. I did find the GetSpaceNameForObj function in the 'record schedule' cell. But I have no idea what to do with it and whether this would work for what I'm trying to achieve.
  14. Ok thanks @Tom W. I do indeed mean to count the symbols in a room (as in living room/ living room). I do not know if marionette is the way to go... Just looking for a way to make it work. @Pat Stanford can you help please?
  15. @Pat Stanford I see your point and wish I could afford, or my boss could be more generous. Unfortunately both not the case.
  16. @Tom W. Thanks for trying. I found a marionette script (see attachment) that has a space borderline and (should) count the symbol within. .. I think the settings are not correct, but the concept is there. Can you adjust this and make a link to the record please? Attached the marionette script file: 'into poly MG' and my file with the record and symbols I would like to count into poly MG.vwx test record.vwx
  17. In this thread they made a marionette script to count symbols or objects in a specific space. Maybe there is a way to use that as a starting point, what do you think? "I understand that newer versions offer more features, but I prefer having a lifetime license. Unfortunately, Vectorworks has discontinued that option and now only offers subscription-based plans."
  18. Is there a simple way to make a automated scedule that marks the symbols ( codes V1, V2, V3, V4, W1, W2, W3, W4, W4, P1, P2, P3, P4 in this case is a floor, wall or Ceiling material finish) represented per space? I use floorplan with codes (symbols) togheter with a worksheet scedule as an overview for the builder. (so he know what material to use in a certain space). The crosses I type by hand. Is there a way to automate this so the crossed are being placed in the cell as soon as I place a code into a particular space? Or any idea how to make this happen (some other approach/ tools) please? I've got Vectorworks Architect 2021. (and no knowledge of Marionette)

Yes you're right as you can see from the picture I took: it's massive thatched roof!! ❤

Thanks for sharing Kevin K., although I think Vectorworks | Renderworks can do a nice job with the 'Lit fog' combined with a 'filter' as well. See here one of my renders:

@Tom W. I found something: You can have the light coming from a background and you can have the background image come from a completely different background .... in the attached video 'Remarkable Renderworks Ep. 26: Environment Lighting' Daniel Jansenson explaines how as of 7.07min.

That's how I understand it as well........... Best to ask @PVA - Jim : could you please clarify your statement: I often use Physical Sky coupled with a heliodon for the environment lighting and then just the regular "fake" jpeg HDR background for the visuals and reflections to avoid this entirely. from: https://forum.vectorworks.net/index.php?/topic/57611-whats-special-about-an-hdri-background/&do=findComment&comment=288065 Is Tom W. correct?
