  1. OH you mean adjust the transparency of parts of the image that aren't being transparency masked already, I thought you meant avoid doing a transparency effect in Photoshop at all for the whole image. Submitting request now.
  2. I believe this is most easily done by editing the texture that is generated when you create the image prop. Edit the texture in the resource browser, I think by default it will be called "(Imagename) Prop Texture" and set the Transparency shader to Plain, then editing that shader will let you control the level of transparency for that image prop as well as any other instances of it within the document.
  3. I don't think its Adobe, I am actually able to get the same issue on the design layer directly after a few renderings, looks like it may need to be submitted. I'll check over it more closely shortly.
  4. 1) Not in the granular way you are attempting to do, no. While uploading a lossy compressed image will always be worse than a high quality one, trying to get size down in the initial image file through various compression/color changes will not normally be worth the effort. 2) Yes. However this is subject to diminishing returns. Trying to load something like RAW into a texture will result in a huge resource with no visible difference. Theres no quick scientific answer to what exactly should be done, as it all depends what the final product will be and what size/types of renderings you're working with. For instance if the final render is openGL, then you wouldn't notice much difference in anything BUT size of the final file no matter what you did. Normally, quality should be tested in-file in the environment you're going to be rendering in, then quality can be reduced or increased to taste to balance file size and appearance.
  5. I would not personally recommend them yet, mainly because of the limited integrated graphics they all have. Last I saw the best they offered was an Intel HD 5000 (built into most i7s I believe) and while it DOES pass our minimum specs, I have had many users unhappy with the performance in 3D. Looking forward, graphics cards will handle top/plan and 2D graphics as well, so it will even become important for users who aren't working in 3D. Hardware specs aside, we don't have much in the way of support for touchscreen interfaces, odds are you will end up just using it with a mouse or with the touch mouse emulation they include. (Haven't worked with this enough myself to give a full opinion.) We may start to support this more as these devices become more common, but if you go that route, understand you are in the early adopter realm that can be fraught with issues not common in normal use scenarios.
  6. Sorry for the delay, wanted to get an answer straight from the rendering manager: JPEGs used as the source for a texture should remain JPEG and extract as JPEG. All other image formats will be converted to PNG during the texture creation (actually, converted when any image is imported at all, even if it isn't being used to make a texture) and will extract as PNG after the fact. There is always some conversion, but there should not be a reduction in quality that you can see in a rendering, it does not attempt to compress them significantly for instance.
  7. Does this issue happen even in a new test document with a few 3D objects added? I am unable to replicate the issue here on Windows 7 or OS X 10.9.5 in 2015 SP1.
  8. We have one separately from the OS one, the keyboard shortcut for toggling seems to be different per-app, I do not believe we have one built in by default. However, I have had users that when they try to use ours and OS Xs get stuck for the same reason, the green minimize button is hidden or doesnt appear at all. Pretty sure these need to be merged, I'll check to be sure.
  9. Just to confirm for the case, do you have SP1 installed already for Vectorworks 2015?
  10. Looks like they are aware of the issue and are tracking it, mainly affecting Fundamentals users. Currently, the cleanest way to correct it is to perform the following procedure: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/1099/Resetting+Vectorworks+Preferences
  11. Could you post that symbol in a file here please? Or email it to tech@vectorworks.net? I'll confirm and submit it.
  12. A request for the ability to change palette/UI colors has been submitted, I will add this thread to that request. The background color for both Top/Plan and 3D views can be changed via Tools > Options > Vectorworks Preferences > Session > Interactive Appearance Settings. The "General - Background -" ones are what you are looking for.
  13. It may have been bundled into the Tile fills, found in the Fill portion of the attribute palette, which can contain any geometry you like. The older Tile command is still available though, you can add it to your workspace via the workspace editor. It can be found under the All Menus section.
  14. You can post it here via file manager (near the bottom of the full screen post window) or you can email to tech@vectorworks.net
  15. Does the same happen when you render on the design layer directly? Does the same happen if you create a new viewport of the same geometry on a new sheet layer? Post that object in a file and I can take a closer look.
  16. I am able to use it, in click-drag drawing mode that tool should work like so: First click and hold = first point Drag to second position and release = second point Second click = third point
  17. These objects are extremely far off the document's origin. In a test copy of this file, if you enable visibility and selectability for everything on the design layers, move everything back to 0,0, then attempt to make a few new test viewports (the existing viewports will no longer be pointed at the right place) tell me if the same thing occurs. Check the fills as well and let me know if they behave differently.
  18. Already requested: https://techboard.vectorworks.net/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=197749#Post197741
  19. From what I hear, it would have to first be integrated into Cinerender, then we would be able to implement it directly within Vectorworks.
  20. Gotcha, and no the activations don't count as new ones, you could activate it on 80 user accounts on the same machine and they still only count as one, it tracks hardware and network info to avoid that issue.
  21. Submitted by myself and others a few times. its a major UI element that helps users keep track of orientation within a 3D model and most other CAD applications have something similar. Adding this thread to the latest request. The current indicator (its not really what you're looking for, it only resides at the origin) sort of works, but it isn't immediately obvious what it is indicating or what the colors mean.
  22. I think this is what you're looking for: http://app-help.nemetschek.net/2015/NNA/eng/Commands_Tools2015.pdf You can also get to it in most recent versions of Vectorworks by going to the Help and looking for a "Commands and Tools PDF"
  23. A quickish test, create a new Administrator user account on the affected machine via these steps: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/805/Creating+a+New+User+Account+%28Mac+OS+X%29 Then, log into the new account, launch Vectorworks (it may ask for your SN, have that handy) and then try the renderings again. Let me know the results.
  24. If it gets that added functionality, it would definitely be worth bundling up like that into a newer and more capable tool, even if the older ones were still left around as legacy. I'll submit that separately.
