  1. Agreed, makes perfect sense. I do this now via class texturing, but it would be much easier to have it replace-able as a resource, removing the need to class objects for this purpose if that was the only reason. Also, it isn't always possible to control textures via class, as often class needs to sort the object by way of what it is or what it does, rather than the texture it is using. Not to mention objects that have multiple components that are not class-able individually. Submitting request now.
  2. That's going to be fixed. I had not thought of the standard stacking order being used to determine which face "wins" in this situation (Which is called "Z Fighting" apparently) but I will check to see how it was/will be resolved and see if that's what they went with. If not, will submit it as a new request.
  3. Close Vectorworks, then download and install this: http://www2.ati.com/drivers/14-4-win7-win8-win8.1-64-dd-ccc-whql.exe If it lets you install (Some laptop OEMs make you use custom drivers, let me know if this fails) then reboot and retry zooming and panning in Vectorworks.
  4. Submitting request now. However... [img:center]http://i.imgur.com/WttWDeF.jpg[/img]
  5. Doesn't look like there is an option for that, I had never had anyone request that before, but if you feel thickness, color, or line type control for that would be useful, I'll submit it.
  6. It looks like that has been fixed since 2012, I have tried it here on Mac and Windows and it does not behave that way any longer in 2014.
  7. No, it would overwrite any that were already installed. If you run it again and you still don't get the door hardware once it is finished installing, check with tech@vectorworks.net
  8. Normally yes, this option is on by default so that is the case. However it may have been disabled accidentally, hitting the p key on the keyboard toggles it when the selection tool is active.
  9. That makes good sense, let me work that over in a bit with others here and see what we come up with.
  10. That is "Connected Walls Mode" in the mode bar of the Selection tool (not the Wall tool) If that is turned off, wall networks will just break up when you go to move walls within them. if you enable connected walls mode, it will attempt to adjust the network to include the moved wall in its new location.
  11. Check with tech@vectorworks.net to get the right link, there are a few and only one correct version depending on your license.
  12. It should be in Vectorworks2014\Libraries\Defaults\Door - Hardware However, did you do this after installing Vectorworks? http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/1170/Vectorworks+2014+Content+Library+Installation I believe you have to install the architectural libraries in order to get door hardware.
  13. Would reshape handles directly on the viewport that only allowed symmetric resizing be a better solution there? Just have the OIP report the resulting value in that mode?
  14. I think the toggle makes more sense, then it becomes immediately obvious to a user why one of the options is grayed, since its either custom or not. I would think they shouldn't both be active at the same time as then it would be confusing as to why there were two separate fields that controlled exactly the same thing. It also lets you remove the "custom" option from the dropdown (where you then would have needed to type in the value below anyway) and makes it faster to change scale if the user prefers keyboard entry to list selection.
  15. Its in there, expanded it to include anything inserted into walls that flips. Doors, Windows, Symbols in Wall, as well as walls themselves to a different extent for direction.
  16. I submitted this some time ago, I believe it was from this thread but I must not have remembered to post here. In any case, Request submitted. Agreed, it seems like a toggle radio button or checkbox to choose between picking a scale and a custom scale would make more sense, since it is an either/or situation. Submitting request now.
  17. Makes sense, increases the discoverability of the feature (two-way worksheet modification, that is) as well as removing a click each time a picked value cell is to be modified. Removing a single click may not seem like a big deal, but this one happens frequently and it would add up fast. Submitting request now.
  18. This sounds like a description of Lit Fog, if that is the case: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/1256/Using+Lit+Fog
  19. This should happen if you enable "Always display active document" in the resource browser, it will then show the resources of the document that is currently selected via the window menu.
  20. Correct, viewports will keep the rendering settings they had upon creation. If you create viewports after you make changes to the design layer rendering settings, they will take on those new settings and hold them until they are modified per-viewport.
  21. Yes, the "Smoothing Angle" option within Hidden Line's "Line Render Options". Usually something around 25 or 30 degrees will give good results, but it depends on your geometry and can be tweaked to your liking.
  22. Apologies, I hadn't noticed this part of your post earlier, I will address it here. Actually, almost nothing about 3D objects was changed in any way to accommodate the screen vs layer plane system. This was due to the current way features are selected, tested and implemented. To you and I, it is very obvious that altering the way 2D and 3D objects are displayed in a given "mode" will dramatically affect most if not all of a hybrid modelling process, but this was not noticed during the implementation of the task. It wasn't an intentional decision to make parts of that system confusing or clunky, just a side effect of focusing on some smaller portions of how it was implemented while the implementing engineers were unaware of others/the larger picture. This is something I would like to see corrected in the future, however it will take some time and effort, I only have so much pull but I plan to use all of it.
