  1. I everybody in this discussion. I wonder If you can help on this question:

    - It is possible to have Data Tag refering to the different materials applied in a Symbol?

Something similar to the attached drawing.

    Thank you for your help.

  2. Hi everybody! I Kindly ask help to this Forum Community help on this point:

    - It is possible to have Data Tag refering to the different materials applied in a Symbol?

    The idea is to have:

1 - Data Tag in a Section Viewport Annotation of symbol

2 - Identify several Materials of the Symbol (attached drawing)

3 -  The Data Tags automatically update if we change on of the Materials (Example: From White Leather to Black Leather)

Something similar to the attached drawing.

    Thank you for your help.

Looking forward from some help/ suggestion

  3. I confirm everything said by @line-weight. I also advise to work in 3D so far as you can go. In small formats, we are going until 1:20 detail. Then if necessary do Detailed Drawings separate at 1:5 or 1:2 scale at 2D

Having everything in 3D will cost a lot of time in the beginning, but it will pay back a lot more in the long run (layout modifications, adjust, re works, etc).

Please note this is only valid if you have many similar projects where you can re use over and over the same library of objects (doors, windows, furniture)

    i hope i could help.

  4. This node only affect the Mapping of the Object, not the entire texture of the file, correct.

I'm asking this because my objective is to correctly apply wood texture on a furniture (several pieces), and on this I will have wood veins in several different directions (using always the same wood texture).

Once again, thank you for your help.

  5. @Stephan Moenninghoff I believe I understand how this node Work.

If for instance I want to rotate the Texture 90 degrees I should introduce in the SET TEXTURE MAP

    hObj - Object to control

    Type: Bolean

    iSelector - 4 (rotate2D)

    itemValue - 90

If I want to OffsetX  the texture 15 meters, I should introduce a second SET TEXTURE MAP node with

    hObj - Object to control

    Type: Bolean

    iSelector - 1 (OffsetX)

    itemValue - 15 (meters)

    Please confirm if is this?

  6. @Stephan Moenninghoff Tank you very much for your fast reply.

Looking at your BOX object, I identify that the NODE that control the texture is the "SET TEXTURE MAP".

I do not know if there is any documatantion explaining how this node work?

What I need is to control offsetX, offsetY, scale2D, rotate. This will enter in the iSelector input. Do you know how this data should be input? There are several value that will enter in the same input!?

    How should be done?

Thank you very much for your support/ help.

  7. Hi, do you get any solutions for these? I’m having the same problem (control the size and rotation of an texture).

You have found any additional nodes help in the last Vectorworks versions ?

  8. It is possible to mapping with Marionette.

When I apply an texture to an Object, I do not have any control of it (rotation, scale).

There is any Marionette Node that control the Mapping of the Texture similar to what we found in the Render tab of each object.

Some node where we can control the Scale, Offset H, Offset V, Rotation, Repeat, Flip.

Thank you in advance for your help.

  9. Hi @Alan Woodwell, very good work on Marionette, and thank you for share all the files and you knowledge

I'm trying to apply textures in marionette, but I do not know how to control it.

How can I control the mapping of the texture (Scale, Offset H, Offset V, Rotation, Flip, Repeat)? There is any special node for this?

In your Marionette Frame 2, when we start to introduce deferents sizes, the picture do not fit or even rotate in a vertical format.

Do you have found any solution for this? There are new nodes in the Vectorworks 2019?

    Thank you for your help

  10. Great News!

Has you I had given twice a trie on Marionette. In the second round I even introduced it in the workflow of the office 3 objects I have created (automatic ceiling coves, automatic standard facade, automatic skirting) ....it works....but with so much pain, file crashes, file slow down, strange resets for the original shape ....in the end do not pay the enfort :

The time to Create the Marionette + the time to solve is issues in each file > The time to do it Manually Old Fashion Style (doing the same little tasks repeatedly)

Reading you, I probably will give Marionette a third trying

it it is really more stable....no bugs ...no strange behaviors....no crash every object update?

  11. Regarding Marionette,

It something that are rely being used by common users, in daily work?

Looking at the Marionette Forum Gallery it looks like there are not so much users/ shares (the majority of shared files are from people from or working for Vectorworks).

I confess that I have given a trie (two times) to Marionette, and it is something that we can not rely on. It is not stable, the files with Marionette tends to crash down, to heavy to open (simple structure).

There will be some improvements on this field (very promising, but not delivering)?

  12. In September, Apple will release the ARKIT 2.0. One of the biggest announce is the use of a Open Source (developed by PIXAR) of 3D file (USDz) that will be fully supported by Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, iMacs) and their common apps (Mail, Safari, Notes, Pages, etc).

This will aloud that any one can easily share 3D Objects via e-mail or web, and every one with an iPhone (there are millions out there) could see the 3D Content in Augmented Reality in real presence full scale.

The main goal is this USDz file will became the PDF of 3D and Augmented Reality.

This is a Game Changer for ALL of us Architects, Designers, Creatives that already work ALL in 3D. It will be very easy and natural to share our creations internally in Work In Progress and also with our Clients for more engaging approvals of our concepts/ works

Knowing this, and as a heavy VECTORWORKS user, my simple question is:

WHEN WILL VECTORWORKS WILL FULLY SUPPORT USDZ FILES?

Please do not be to late, the BIG WAVE is coming, and we as Vectorworks Lovers want to catch it FIRST.

Please right here your thoughts and predictions about this.

  13. There is any way to automatically make Sections Labels as the ones indicated in the attached drawing?

I use the Section View Ports, and it work great, but would be fantastic if Vectorworks have a tool to make Automatic Sections Labels (mainly the reference of finishing materials and reference of the furniture).

I have tried the ID Label tool with no success. It mainly work only on the layout plan. Only the Doors and Windows can have a 3D view.

Any one know a solution/ tool. In a parametric CAD program, where every elements could have data attached, should be easy to have Automatic Sections Labels.

Thank you for the advise/ feedback

  14. There is any solution built in on VECTORWORKS for workflow problem:

Project DATA info update in ALL PROJECT FILES and LAYOUTS.

For each project in our office we have about 5 vectorworks files and each one with several sheets layouts. There is any way that we can centralize the Project DATA info (name, address, client, date, stage, etc) in a common external file (as an xRef) and easily Change/Update this information and imedeatly populate all the linked files and layouts (without manual imports or worksheet updates - just with the open of the file)?

  15. Thanks a LOT (you work on Sunday!!!!) 😉

    Now it works PERFECTLY

I may have an additional question regarding Worksheets.

Thank you in advance and have a NICE Sunday (I'm in a GreeK Island (Milos) by the way in holidays)

  16. Sorry for may late reply

I'm to busy doing the daily work, than it not leave many space to the improves.

I want to thank you both for your great feedback. I want to create a mix of your both ideas, but I stoped (probably in a very basic step)

@MullinRJ your file works great when I open, if I change the name of the Layer it automatically updates, but when I copy your worksheet to my file, the result turns 0

I have to active any specific script in my file? I notice this CCC window open in your file with the runscript (attached image). Could you help me in this little step?

Thank you again for your help.
