  1. Little irritating is also when you copy rectangles, some straight, the others 90° rotated as I often do. With VW's 2D rectangle height/width/adaption you will get 2 types of rectangles from Magic Wands point of view.. That means just another click with Magic Wand Tool by Object+Size. Edit : Until VW <2017, now it works with 2017 But it will not work if you copy your rectangles and use different angles. This way they will not get selected by the Magic Wand at all. And as it looks that happens also for these rectangles after these got extruded. So what MW does when activating "Size" is in reality "Size+Rotation"
  2. Strange, Barefeats has no direct comparison between the 2 GPU. Only 13" vs 15" maxed out. I think this the most interesting link : http://gpuboss.com/gpus/Radeon-Pro-460-vs-Radeon-Pro-450 The rest you would have to compare barefeats 460 and the lots of other sites testing 450 only, maybe there is a comparable or same benchmark anywhere.
  3. For a moment I thought I had overwritten something
  4. ^ "We also strongly recommend again using Intel branded integrated cards, whether they share system memory or have their own discrete VRAM (video memory)." ??? I think there is missing a "do not" ? @JimW
  5. Yes and no. I propose workarounds but am a physical based rendering evangelist. And can't resist to palm my view of things off while answering questions But important is that you reach the result that you want. In many cases that does not mean to be realistic.
  6. I don't get what you mean by sub-classes ? Do you mean their tree like order by "hierarchical display" ? Deactivate it temporarily (I never use it) and you can select more than one class by SHIFT/CMD. I tried to delete 2 classes at one time and I got the same "replace with class" dialog as i was used. As for DWG imports I usually choose to add a prefix to its ACAD Layer import to VW Classes, like "DWG_" in front of Layer name. This way they will get sorted by name in a single row so I can select all at once by using SHIFT key. I am not familiar with project sharing so I don't know how to organize Referencing and such for that purpose. I usually import my DWGs into a separate VW File and I reference that VW File into my VW Project File, not the DWG itself. If I get an updated DWG, I reimport the DWG in that special file and delete the older geometry. This way I can do some checks like position, global Class visibility editing and such. The project file will recognize that the Reference File is out of date.
  7. If you render in drawing viewport in RW mode and it has a higher resolution it will take longer. Like in Viewports with higher DPI setting most render modes will need more time when rendering more pixels. Also 3D OpenGL should get a bit slower. But there are also tasks in rendering which are resolution independent so it doesn't mean a 1:1 slow down. Also Retina iMacs aren't slower than their predecessors.
  8. The rest is material settings, while physical glass being a dielectric with typical low reflection value of only about 4% but 100% fresnel, will soon look not so physical if you increase reflection value at 0°. So cloud reflections mainly when seen from the side. Next can be to increase the contrast and brightness of the environment reflection texture used for reflection, and finally faking in post production. (Where it it would be nice to render reflection masks at separate channel)
  9. It is in your Render Style > Background > Environment Reflections where you can set a different Texture Map than what is seen by Camera or Environment Lighting.
  10. Funny, for me these appear normally neon white. Someone once told me which Class is responsible for these but I can't remember. Maybe not one that appears in the Windows/Doors Dialog Settings but should exist in your Classes list.
  11. I see the only model without TouchBar is a 13" MBP. Both 13" MBP have no dedicated GPU, just onboard intel IRIS graphics. Both MBP 15" have an additional AMD Radeon Pro GPU.
  12. Does your MacBook Pro model have a special separate Graphics Card ? The onboard graphic only is not recommended. http://www.vectorworks.net/sysreq?version=2016
  13. BTW Dell Canvas is just a Wacom Cintiq Touch, same hardware. Just $1k more affordable + Surface-like puck. Wacom looks a bit better (still far from nice) but can't sit level on a desk. But both their screens are far from what is Surface Studio.
  14. Beside price and power, at least if one of Apples devices is applicable, those can be great Windows (Bootcamp) machines. Thanks for sharing your experience.
  15. Looks like those are the same So not so ugly as long as look at it from top only. If Dell did just the hardware and MS/Wacom do the touch and pen things, it might work as good as surface studio. But I prefer the true surface hardware. Apple or MS. Currently I'm also fascinated by Surface book or even Pro. Hope for a 15" (better 17") version with at least quad core i7 and a bit more meat to deal with heat and resulting noise.
  16. ^ I think that 16 GB limit should fall with the next iteration that some expect sometime this year. If you can wait I would. There could also be the next CPU version KL, not faster but less power consuming and even another display generation that is said to consume much less power. Which should help for battery life which is already well against many Windows Laptops. I slightly doubt if that will all come this years. If you need one, buy it. People are quite happy with the touch bar, screen is beautiful, keyboard different but not bad and current USB C limits should decrease over time. As it is not cheap and nothing replaceable I think I would go pretty maxed out from start with GPU and maybe even CPU. As it may be in use for some years.
  17. You can delete a class. If it is still in use VW will ask if you want to delete these elements too or move them to another class. Looks like it works also when deleting more than one class at one time. I think this way will be ok for your DWG imports and Symbols, but I think there is a certain risk to delete classes that are used by Plugin Objects like Windows, Doors, ... If it is just about having the DWG Geometry and no need to edit that, it is better to import the DWG in a separate file and "reference" that file as a Viewport. This way you won't be bothered by foreign class standards.
  18. Cool! I think I should go with my own Tool Palettes only the next time. That's a problem for me too. Not just in VW. I was never successful with migrated Workspaces anywhere. Too many problems. I do these from scratch.
  19. According to Computerworks, my Spaces do not crash in the german release of VW. But the Crash for the international VW was confirmed.
  20. Menu Items : - rearranged (Export/Import) - no entries deleted (so far) Quick Tool Bar : - 90% of available Settings pulled out Top Bar : - Render "long" + Layer Scale (forgot for the screenshot) Tool Boxes : - pulled out Working Planes + Visualization (Camera + Light Lister) Basic Box : - at the bottom - reordered and sorted (Creation vs Manipulation vs Selection) - pulled out nested Icons - extended with Tape Measure and Basic 3D Stuff RM : - over File Tab Bar (Else I can not see the File Name if over Top App Border) Tool Set Box : - Tool Set order rearranged - Tool order rearranged Interactive : - cold Colors for "Editing Modes Border" and different View Backgrounds, some Transparency changes Would like to be able to pull out the UIOP Bar either as a floating Palette or docked at the bottom in a second row. Would like to paint my own Icons. Would like to have access for Icons of all Tools AND Commands.
  21. I think it is a far better product. But why do they always have to be so ugly and cheap looking. (like the first linked device) Why not just a square Box, or at least a flat bottom and sides. If it will be too thick to work on a table, someone would sell a frame around it to get it into a level workplane with the desk. Including a gutter for coffee accidents. I hope so much that such devices will come. Not an All in One like Surface Studio but as a separate device. And I still hope for Apple. While functional wise those things often look good, it's Apples work in detail that lets such devices work smoothly, recognizing what is just your hand resting on your tablet screen and which may be that one finger that actually wants to control something. As they will not be cheap it can easily become annoying when not working right.
  22. You are right. They are now part of Nemetschek. Looks very interesting. Some more structure for BIM. Hope they will also bring in some scandinavian reduced design ideas for the UI with them
  23. I have the Enterprise unplugged anyway. No much extra benefit but arbitrarily awakes my Mac from sleep. So I deleted my VW settings to see what's new. Not bad. All VW commands don't come over the dumb macro list but as separate "Application Commands" in the Button Assignment Tab. Great. So there aren't those 12 "macros" per App only as you are used and that may not fit your personal needs but a pretty long list to choose from. Would like to know where it is, maybe I could add some for other Apps like C4D that do not provide "Application Commands"
  24. I'll add that it could show suitable tools according to your Selection. (Similar to RMB Option Menu) After you then did your Tool Selection, it could show the UIOP Options (Or Axis Constraints, or Extra stuff that could be useful but is NOT available by UIOP keys (?)) Custom Shortcut List is never bad because everyone has its own specific list of tools that you all day need but may be hard to reach from VW UI. So like things I would macro into my Enterprise like "Convert to Generic Solid" and those things. So as an Option, to do your own alternative Tool Box isn't bad anyway. In Case of a Slider useful or needed (rare?) why not provide one on the Touch Bar. (Could be Shortcut+Scrollwheel too, for the "Bar"-less people. But please not without the need of an additional key like in C4D where you loose your values unwanted when trying to scroll through your lists)
