Reid Madiuk
Hi There, I have been trying to draw canted walls. Exterior side leaning out at the top. I saw Reeves video showing this created by wall projection and taper extrude. Works great. I can add doors windows etc... But, it does not fully act as a wall. How can you join the walls or finish the Corners??? Creating 2 more taper extrudes and trying to place in the right spot seams counter productive. Anyone have a work around on this????See my pics attached. And thanks in advance. Quote Link to comment
Benson Shaw
Try instead with a symbol composed of a 2d locus, a 3d locus and an extrude in the wall hole component which cuts the outer component. The loci are in there so you can see them. -B Cant Wall.vwx This is similar to the techniques in this old log cabin thread with current update suggested by @Matt Panzer . Thanks For this, I seem to be missing something. I can not get the locust to work on the right component. No matter if I choose left or right wall insertion when creating the symbol, it always pulls to the inside face. Ive tried switching core components and having no core. But no change in the insertion. I am trying to can't the exterior portion of the wall. Any help is appreciated. see pic Quote Link to comment
Benson Shaw
Looks like the symbol is inserting on wrong side of the wall. Check the insertion options of the symbol and the wall style. Or in the symbol definition flip the extrude and offset in plan to match desired conditions. -B Quote Link to comment
Reid Madiuk
Sorry to keep bothering, I am missing something. I can only get the interior or Right side of the wall to lean out at the top. I did have the symbol set to the wrong side of the wall. But even after correcting, playing with depths etc... The The locust can only pull the taper the same direction. The interior side works, the exterior side does not.If I try the locust method with a taper extrude and wall projection. it does not seem to work as a wall again. I still can not join walls that way. Benson Shaw
Not at all a bother. This is purpose of the forum. Here is my vwx file in v2021 I think your lower image shows the problem. The extrude in your symbol's wall hole component needs to be wide at the bottom and narrow at the top. I made a polygon in (Right view, not TopPlan - in v2021, screen plane is your friend) and extruded 60' to make it longer than the longest wall, I then moved it -30' so that in TopPlan the extrude center is insertion point and is aligned to 00. You could also make this wall hole geometry with a Tapered Extrude or a Multiple Extrude in Top view. Any enclosed shape is fine as long as it surrounds the portion of the wall which is to be hidden/removed. To see how my symbol is arranged, edit my symbol definition Wall Hole Component in the resource manager or one of the instances on the drawing (in Wire Frame render, right click the locus). To see the insertion parameters, edit the Symbol Options. Mine inserts at Wall - Right Edge. ie it inserts at outside face of the wall, not at edge of core or at center of wall thickness. Your's will work with a few adjustments. If you want others to take a look or propose solutions, post a file with a wall segment and your symbol. -B Cant Wall v2021.vwx Edited November 16, 2021 by Benson Shaw always something, innit? 1 Quote Link to comment

Benson Shaw
The wall hole symbol method outlined above makes perfect corners. Great that the window and door wall holes are not conflicting with the big cant wall cutter. -B 1 Quote Link to comment

Even multiple wall hole cutters in the same wall, as well as windows + doors. It should be a recognised (taught) technique! Or made into a proper command like 'Subtract 3D Object From Slab'. 1 Quote Link to comment
