I wish you could save 'preferences' within a workspace.

hollister design Studio

Question

Sure would be nice if 'preferences' where saved within a workspace.

I just got a 'error loading preferences' notice and VW defaulted to... default.

My Workspace loaded back up fine when I clicked on it, but I had to try and remember what I had set in preferences, and without much confidence, I'm working as normal again.

Yes I have a screen shot of each tab - I just wasn't sure how current it was. I plan on working a bit to make sure things are running 'right' and then take new screen shots.

2021 SP4 build 602791

Updating to SP4.1 now!

I’ve had this happen to me too. At one point it was happening every other day.

I keep a screen shot record of my prefs but I also make a backup copy of the “settings” file in my user folder.

After the “factory reset” I would copy and paste the backup back into the user library and restart vw.

I wonder why it can break in the first place.

And if it can,

(as there are so many advices to reset User Folder for any kind of VW issues

which often helps)

is it a good idea to bring the Settings Back Up back ?

I see so many Setting Files in User folder which also may contain Palette positions

and such things - which I would expect in my Workspace file only ?

I assume some redundancies between these Setting Files and different Setting Folders,

because when I had lately hidden all User Folders Setting Files, beside DWG Import Settings

and such, in a BAK Folder

(To get rid of my "Update Ressource Libraries" problem with each start of VW 2022),

and VW created new Settings Filesas expected - but i did not loose any Settings though !???

Like e.g. Workgroup Folder or Auto Backup Directory ....
