Solid Subtraction Locked

Why and how did my solid subtraction become locked so that I cannot fillet the edges? How do I unlock it? I have right clicked and unlocked to no avail. I have also gone through all of the editing screens unlocking. What gives?

Copy and paste into a new file and try the filet there. If it still does not work, post the simple file here for us to take a look at.

 

Have you restarted VW? Sometimes closing and reopening the file or restarting VW can clear a stance problem like this.

I followed your advice and restarted VW 2020 then Copy and pasted into a new file. Same thing. What does solid subtraction locked mean? What is the purpose?

Anyway here is the file. It is just a small item to 3d print. More aggravating than anything.HG_2.vwx

1. I don't know what Solid Selection - Locked means.

2. It opens and filets fine in VW2021SP2.

3. If you remove the three holes, filet the rest of the handle and then resubtract the holes it works fine. You can even filet the edges of the holes after you subtract them.

Any chance that on the Object Info Palette it was showing up as Fillet or Chamfer?

 

I had much frustration with models that I had painstakingly filleted and then wanted to change the solid modelling. The only way to do it was go through and ungroup multiple times to get back to before the last fillet command...

Hi, I am currently having exactly this same issue with a drawing.  I have not found an answer and have tried everything from re-starting to copy and pasting the object into a new drawing and attempting to unlock it so I can add some fillets.  I can draft a new object in this same drawing and able to add fillets, etc. to it but not to the object I have spent many hours drafting.

 

Anyone had any luck sorting this out?

I was able to fillet the edges of this, but you have to select all the edges, see the second image

@waynelocke  It is not really a lock, it just doesn't like the geometry.  As @Jonathan Pickup demonstrated there is usually a way.

 

Fillets don't like some geometry.  The short video below shows the offending geometry in your initial 2D curve and how to fix it.  Although the fixed shape might not be what you want, this is the problem.
