VW 2019 pdf export graphic problems

edwin1978

Question

I've been experiencing graphic problems when exporting drawings tot PDF. even simple rectangles are getting distorted. i've tried setting every output (in the sheetlayer settings and export options) to its max (2400DPI) and still it isn't crisp like on the screen in the drawing. Please help! this is driving me crazy.

using VW 2019 landmark fully updated on a windows pc, and tried it as well on my mac. see attachment for visuals, zoom in on the rectangle in the pdf2400 pdi export.pdf as seen on the screenshot, and mind you this is 2400dpi!

Now I can see what you mean.

I can even see it a little bit in your first 2400 DPI example on Mac too.

Looks like there is a coarse grid for the corners of objects in PDF

that doesn't really fit your drawing.

And as it looks better with 2400 DPI that means it is related to

given overall PDF resolution (?)

I am no PDF expert at all.

But as I see different PDF appearances depending on Preview Apps or OS,

I wouldn't be sure if the PDF was created bad or if it could also just be the

displaying App. Maybe such Apps like Acrobat have some setting options

for the Viewer too ?

For the PDF export, there may be different printer drivers give different results ?

I did some troubleshooting for a user about this exact thing. Yes, DPI is a factor in the accuracy of the geometry exported or published to PDF. Geometric points in PDFs must adhere to a grid, the size of which is set by the DPI value. This is a limitation/function of the PDF format.

If you need to produce PDFs featuring drawings of a large area and need to have very small objects drawn with high levels of accuracy, the answer is to increase your page size.
