grant_PD
I think it's been asked about before. Halting a render on a Mac seems to be easier than on a PC. Is there any good way to do this on either? I have limited success with the ESC key or Propeller-period. Quote Link to comment
islandmon
In my experience the amount of time it takes to halt a render in progress depends on a lot of factors, but usually works fine with 'command-period'. However, subsequent key commands or mouse clicks activated during the command-period wait cycle can cause VW to hang and the processor to demand a restart. Once the command-period is initiated it's best to just sit back and wait it out ... complex 3d sections will try your patience ; ) Quote Link to comment
propstuff
Further to the above: For a complex scene, we might be talking 5 minutes or more before it gets through completing the calculation it's in the middle of and finally recognises the ESC command. Patience indeed. Time to go away and make a coffee. Mind you, on more than a number of occasions, I've had it just refuse the command and keep on going. If it draws more than 2 or 3 new "lines" on the screen after hitting ESC, I assume it's not going to stop and quit it. :-( Quote Link to comment
Kevin
I find that the speed of your computer is a factor too. The faster the computer, the faster it will respond to your comand to halt. I use command-period. Quote Link to comment
Kaare Baekgaard
Accidentally evoking the final quality radiocity command instead of the final quality renderworks is a real bummer! - They look so much alike, that I have been compelled to hide the radiocity command behind an extra menu folder.
