Control views between design and sheet layers

Hello,

 

I hope you could help me with this question:

HOW TO CONTROL VIEWS WHEN CHANGING FROM DESIGN LAYER TO SHEET LAYER VECTORWORKS?

 

Every time I switch from the sheet to the design layer the drawing sets very far far far away from the place I am working on. So I have to constantly move the view towards my building.

Most likely you need to enable Tools > Options > Vectorworks Preferences > Edit > Separate Sheet Views (Middle left of the dialog) 

This should cause Sheet layers to keep the view they were in when last you switched away from them and not reflect the zoom/pan changes made to design layer views.

Another thing is Scale.

It may not work if your Design Layers are at 1:1* and your Sheet Layers Viewports at a smaller 1:200 or similar.

(*Like you would do everywhere else)

That's why it is recommended to scale Design Layers at the same scale as your (most often used) Viewport(s) scale.

Another option could be to ccreate saved views for your design layer, so that when you switch to the design layer select the appropriate saved view to get back where you want to be. It can save location, zoom level etc.
