JMR
Hi, This is probably a dumb question, but I just can't figure it out: How does one join similar, linear wall segments end-to-end so that they become a single wall? The wall joining options don't seem to do this? Please see the attached clipping. Thanks Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
Counterintuitively I think you need to use the L-Join Mode when using the Wall Join Tool. But they can also be joined by simply connecting the two via the selection handle with Auto Join Walls toggled on. Edited August 16, 2017 by Christiaan Quote Link to comment
JMR
Thanks, However neither option works for me for some reason. The Auto Join is on, and the L-join doesn't join the segments. It's not only this file/wall style that has this problem. Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
Put a couple of walls in a file by themselves, upload here and I'll take a look. Which version of VW are you using? Quote Link to comment
zoomer
I don't think there is a way to join/unify 2 walls in VW. You have to pull first wall's end over the other wall and finally delete the second wall. Quote Link to comment
JMR
Here is an example file, thank you. I'm using version 2017 (Architect). Wall join example.vwx Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
Looks joined to me. Have you got the Connected Walls Mode turned on under the Selection Tool? wall-joined.mov Quote Link to comment
JMR
Thanks, yes they move together, but they are still two separate wall objects. I thought it would be possible to make it one object since they are co-linear. To remove the "segments", so to speak. Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
Do you mean remove the vertical lines between the two in certain render modes? Or just combine them into one wall? Edited August 16, 2017 by Christiaan Quote Link to comment
JMR
Just combine them into one wall. Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
Ah right, no can do. Sorry, didn't read your "single wall" comment in original post. Edited August 16, 2017 by Christiaan Quote Link to comment
JMR
Ok thanks. Perhaps this could be a wishlist item, not impossible to implement one would think. Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
Certainly could, post it here. Give a good detailed real-world example of where you would have liked to have used it too. https://forum.vectorworks.net/index.php?/forum/19-wishlist-feature-and-content-requests/ Edited August 16, 2017 by Christiaan Quote Link to comment
