D Wood
I want to draw a triangular window, or more specifically, a window with a sloping sill as well as a sloping head. Is it possible with either the standard window tool or WinDoor? Quote Link to comment
mike m oz
That is one you will need to model yourself and make a hybrid symbol that inserts into walls. Quote Link to comment
rDesign
Here's a step-by-step from Jonathan Pickup's always-helpful blog Archoncad: Archoncad :: How Can I Build a Window in Vectorworks With A Sloping Bottom? Quote Link to comment
Guest Wes Gardner
Another option, assuming you want to use the profiles of one of the PIO windows, you can convert to group (Command K) and then take the elements apart (Ungroup or enter group) and modify the extruded shapes. Go wild...be creative! Edited September 25, 2015 by Wes Gardner Quote Link to comment
D Wood
Thanks guys - I should have known that Jonathan and already figured it out. Quote Link to comment
D Wood
I've made my symbol, but it inserts in the wall at 90º - any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong? I've use extrudes for the Aluminium frame, the timber reveal, and the glass. They each have a class assigned and the symbol is in the Window-Main class. Quote Link to comment
rDesign
It's probably just that the geometry in your symbol is not in the correct orientation. Go into the Symbol and rotate both the 2D and 3D by 90 degrees around the Origin (clockwise from what I can guess by your image). Quote Link to comment
AlanW
I think you will find that you window geometry symbol is vertical when you go into the symbol. Rotate it to be horizontal and all should be ok. Quote Link to comment
D Wood
Quite right - I went into Edit symbol, rotated it clockwise, exited, and the window now inserts into the wall correctly. Thanks for the help on that. Another question arises however - this window is high up in the wall and I don't want it to show on the Floor Plan. I guess I could divide the wall horizontally and put the upper part with the window on the Roof layer, but is there a way of hiding it on the Floor layer? Quote Link to comment
rDesign
You could either put it on its own class as a Clerestory window so you could turn off that class, or you could put some dashed lines in the 2d part of the window symbol to indicate the window above on the floor plans.
