Benson Shaw
OK, the 5 regular solids from middle school geometry: Tetrahedron, Cube, Octahedron, Dodecahedron, Icosahedron All are drawn with 12" edge length, so scalable in feet. Fun, but not so easy to draw in VWX (except the cube). Folding to correct angle requires a trick. Anyway, use em if you need em. Edit 08/07/17 Here's wikipedia info about these shapes https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Platonic_solid v2017 file added -B Platonic Solids_v2017.vwx Edited August 8, 2017 by Benson Shaw update image and file (v2017) for "new" forum format 2 Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted November 17, 2014 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted November 17, 2014 Very nice! Thank you. This reminds me, submitting a feature request for a set of configurable 3D primitives as a 3D modeling tool. Basic stuff like toroids, all the regular -hedrons etc. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted November 17, 2014 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted November 17, 2014 Aaaaaand I just found out we have a Torus object already... but it isn't listed in any workspace under 3D modeling (as one would expect) nor is it listed anywhere within the Help that I can see. Submitting as an issue now. Quote Link to comment
mike m oz
Vw needs all of the basic geometry shapes in parametric format. Preferably resizable on screen via handles. The Deform capability also needs a Shear capability. Edited November 18, 2014 by mike m oz Quote Link to comment

mike m oz
There is some useful information on 3D modelling in this series of web pages at Peachpit: http://www.peachpit.com/articles/article.aspx?p=30594&seqNum=5 Quote Link to comment

PVA-Jim - Did anything ever come of this? I asked a question about this the other day and @Benson Shaw directed me here... Quote Link to comment
