VincentCuclair
OK, this is annoying, I know this was pointed out a while ago and it doesn't seem to have been addressed yet?! Is it possible to align textures on 2 walls that are placed one on top of the other? (I don't want any work arounds thank you, I know what they are.....) It kind of defeats the idea of assigning textures to walls (components) through the wall dialog?! Edited September 22, 2014 by Vincent C Quote Link to comment
VincentCuclair
At the very least I expect this setting to be active: Edited September 22, 2014 by Vincent C Quote Link to comment
VincentCuclair
Seriously this really needs to be addressed! Here's some more I hit upon today: Edited September 22, 2014 by Vincent C Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted September 22, 2014 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted September 22, 2014 I see the same here. World Z for Origin is disabled in the wall's OIP if you use components for texturing, but the component's individual settings do not offer that option to compensate for this. Submitting request now. Vectorworks, Inc Employee Dave Donley Posted September 22, 2014 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted September 22, 2014 Hello Vincent: Can you attach a VWX file? Use world for Z is disabled for component walls because it is always on for them. The horizontal alignment of textures can depend on which direction the wall is drawn, left to right or right to left. VincentCuclair
Thanks Dave, I tried that but reversing sides doesn't help either. I'll send you a dropbox link to the files privately, I prefer not to make them public. Quote Link to comment
M5d
There are so many variables in walls over walls, that textures rarely seem to align. I find the placement of windows and doors also seems capable of changing texture origins. What Vincent might want is a "Use world X and Y" button. It would work in some instances and in textures where the start point is critical it would provide a consistent reference point for adjusting alignment. VincentCuclair
X, Y and Z fixation and no mirroring, aligning to longest edge, inverting or flipping. Basically anything you draw with that setting will join seamlessly...... Quote Link to comment
zoomer
I'm also not able to set my Meshes as expected. They seem to have each an other orientation. Some have correct mapping on top, others on their sides ... The only way for me is to no images textures but noise only I'm missing a standard Cube Mapping where you simply set you texture sizes and these get tiled over the whole Geometry, No UVW Maps. Start doesn't matter, maybe World Origin and editable. F.e. take a 2x2 m Photo of a brick wall, set a 2x2 m size in the Material preferences and it is projected and tiled to 2x2 m on all geometry parts from XYZ. At least for rectangular geometry. (If you plan/model in masonry units, that way it will fit on all Walls anyway) Quote Link to comment
