back up files

just had a nightmare of a day,one file just keep hanging when i am exporting to artlantis for render

so i have to do a force quit, which leaves me with the back up file to use.

is the best thing to do is to rename the backup file to the original file name or is there a better way of doing things......i do have auto back up set for 2 minutes

Change your autosave to No. of operations eg. 50. Don't use minutes.

Yes, just compare which is more recent - you may find your manual save or auto save file is younger than the backup file.

If you use the backup just open it and immediately overwrite your original.

you shouldn't need a 2 minute autosave - you will find your machine runs smoother with mikes recommendation of changing it to # operations whatever number you choose. I'm currently set to 30 keeping a maximum of 4 backups.

As Vincent mentioned in a different thread you can also go back in time on a mac by accessing an earlier file in TimeMachine which keeps hourly backups.
