Assembly
I'm on VW 2011. What new features have been introduced that you can't live without? Quote Link to comment
michaelk
That's a great question. There are some new features (like the preference settings in the tool bar) that have always been available if you were willing to write a vector script for it, but I've found that I really like not having to manage the script palettes. There are some features that took me a while to appreciate, like the clip cube, but now that it's in my workflow it's a huge improvement to the old group workaround. Here's my quick list: Couldn't live without.... Multi circuit lighting devices (spotlight) no longer need to be built in pieces Stories Intersect edges in hidden line view Heliodon automatic working plane (I may be alone on that one!) Faster rendering Clip Cube Perspective view w/o crop Better handling of sub classes in Nav Palette Really nice....... More preference settings available in tool bar More focus options (spotlight) Savable renderworks settings better push pull Rhino import export (not perfect yet) Easier management of line types mk Quote Link to comment
Assembly
Thanks MK. Seems an expensive upgrade for only one or two extra critical functions Quote Link to comment
michaelk
Faster rendering is the killer upgrade for me. It's also more stable (for me) than earlier versions. I remember using 12.5 and thinking that I would be happy with that version and never need to upgrade. But now when I fire up 2010 I think, "I can't believe I used to live like this!" mk Edited June 28, 2013 by michaelk Quote Link to comment
Bob Holtzmann
The Renderworks Styles are really nice - they have some realistic ones of various kinds, ready to use. And rendering a viewport doesn't stop you from working elsewhere. Quote Link to comment
ChadL
I am a very heavy user of classes, so I love the Hierarchy Class Structure. I have to agree with the faster rendering times also. Quote Link to comment
grant_PD
Clip cube. Once I got the hang of it, it's a great fast way to work. Couple of buggy things about it, NV style, but it's good. Quote Link to comment
