Christiaan
Why is the "mostly cloudy" HDRI actually mostly blue sky? And then the overcast looks like a dramatic storm's brewing. Quote Link to comment
0 Christiaan
The ability to control the cloudiness of a sky in RW basically sucks. Quote Link to comment

0 Christiaan
Guess other option is to go find some decent HDRI sky images somewhere else. Quote Link to comment

0 Christiaan
Thanks Vincent. Rotating the HDRI image can help (say if you want to see a cloudier bit of the image on your render). But this should be part of the viewport render settings, not in the HDRI settings. The main problem with the HDRI skies in VW is the blue of the sky looks like something out of the Mediterranean. Edited October 25, 2012 by Christiaan Quote Link to comment
0 Kizza
VW backgrounds are HDR images, they can only be exported as vwx files. To edit a background you can try: 1) Open the Renderworks Background library file 2) Drop the chosen background onto the design layer 3) File export (tiff is best - no compression) 4) Open in Photoshop 5) Make desired changes 6) Convert image to 32 Bits/Channel 7) Save as Radiance (HDR)file type 8) Edit resource as Vincent previously described and change image 9) Select your edited image and you're done. Convoluted, I know... Quote Link to comment

0 Bryan G.
di you ever think that maybe the weather forecast was wrong and its mostly sunny? Just kidding! I too have found the existing to be poor and am working on creating my own. Quote Link to comment
0 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Dave Donley Posted October 26, 2012 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted October 26, 2012 (edited) Hi Christiaan, are you complaining about the area under the ground plane, which looks blue? Because the area of the sky for Mostly Cloudy looks mostly cloudy to me. You need to have some kind of ground plane under the model off to the horizon to not see the area under the horizon. Also these backgrounds (HDRI and Physical Sky) are best for perspective projections - are you in orthographic projection? Also, why aren't you using the new Physical Sky? You can combine the Physical Sky and Heliodons to have actual control over the sky, instead of fixed images like the HDRI backgrounds which require you to seek out content on the web or wherever.
