billtheia
I just brought a worksheet in from a previous version of VW and discovered that one of the calculations now uses an AREA_LEGACY function. I assume that this means the AREA function is being deprecated. Can someone out there tell me what the new function is? Quote Link to comment
michaelk
Interesting... =AREA returns the value in sq. ft. =AREA_LEGACY returns the value in sq. inches Quote Link to comment
billtheia
That is interesting. Thanks for digging in to that. I didn't even think to try something simple like that. As it turns out, I usually want my values in SF anyway. Strange, though, because the default value in VW (in the US) is inches. Quote Link to comment
michaelk
Having to multiply all area measurements by 144 makes me wish we could switch to the metric system ... mk Quote Link to comment
Ozzie
I wonder if it is now VW uses whatever you have set in Document Settings/Drawing Units for Area is what Worksheets return for Area - if so I think this has been around for a couple of versions Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
A bunch of functions were "Fixed" in VW2012 so they return data in document units rather than in the base units previously used. When you import an older document the worksheets are modified so that any cells using these functions are renamed (ie Area_Legacy) so that any workarounds previously developed are not broken. The _Legacy functions return the exact same results as the simple functions did in VW2011. The plain functions in VW2012 now return the result in Document Units so work arounds should not be required. The functions affected are: Area Volume SurfaceArea Length Perim XCenter YCenter ZCenter TopBound LeftBound BotBound RightBound Quote Link to comment
