JedPLM
How do I create a lawn area for 3D drawing? Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
Jed, There are many ways to do this. For anything other than a fairly flat area I usually create a Site Model based on topography from a survey. For a simple flat lawn/yard you can use a Floor Object or even a simple Extrude. For sloping in one direction only you can use a Roof Face. A grass Texture can be applied to any of the above. BTW, it's generally a good idea to list your VW's and OS info (My Stuff pulldown above; Edit Profile; Signature). Quote Link to comment
Jonathan Pickup
You could also use a site modifier called a texture bed, and have this use a grass texture. Quote Link to comment
Miguel Barrera
But in order to apply textures, don't you need Renderworks? Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
Miguel, Yes. I believe that is correct. One of the many reasons it's good to post your VW's spec's, etc... Quote Link to comment
JedPLM
Thank you all for your help! I do have Vectoworks 2011 w/ Renderworks. I am stil not understanding how to apply a texture to my grass.. all I can use now for my yard is a solid fill color. Any help would be great! Thanks again Quote Link to comment
Benson Shaw
Jed - Can't tell your experience from your post, but here are some basics just in case Textures will only apply to 3d objects. Textures will only be visible when rendered in one of the Renderworks modes or in Open GL (OGL Options need to include Use Textures) Assign texture to an object in the OIP Render tab >Texture pulldown Default textures in the list include Nature Grass. Several ways to make the render, but old faithful is View Menu>Rendering>pick one of these from the list Open GL, Fast Renderworks, Final Quality Renerworks, Custom Renderworks. Test in a new file containing only a 3d poly or an extrude. Good luck! -B Quote Link to comment
