bcd
I just struck me as funny that there isn't a Roof or Roof Face tool. Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
Of course there is. Try changing to one of the stock Workspaces, or if the fails, add the tool(s) to your workspace via the workspace editor. Quote Link to comment
bcd
I'm not seeing it. The menu commands are there of course but there's no tool in the Building Shell Tool Set Palette, whereas less used components like Mullions have a dedicated tool. Just seems funny to me. CipesDesign
I'm not 100% certain because I'm not near a computer at the moment(using mobile web technology) but I don't think there ever was such a tool. As far as I know it's always been a menu item (command)... Quote Link to comment
Bob Holtzmann
You have to select walls, go to the menu AEC > Create Roof. Or make a poly, and go to menu command Roof Face. The Floor is also made from a selected poly in the AEC menu. But the new Slab is on the Tools. Quote Link to comment
bcd
That's not my point. I know there are several ways to create a roof. What I'm saying is that in the Building Shell Toolset Palette there are tools to create Drilled Footings, Slabs, Walls, Round Walls, Windows, Window Walls (straight & curved), Window Mullions and Doors etc. But not Roofs. VincentCuclair
I agree......strange......not essential, but strange, perhaps time to see over a couple of functions? Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
So then this post might be better if placed in the "Wish List"... Quote Link to comment
Dieter @ DWorks
A roof tool would only do the same, but let you draw the poly rather then selecting one. It's actually the same. The reason it's a menu command is that the way it's made, it now asks for a direction, and you can't do that with a tool (maybe you can, but less intu?tuve.). This is also true for the floor and column (or pillar) tool. Edited November 22, 2010 by DWorks Quote Link to comment
VincentCuclair
I don't think the issue is if these tools or methods are right or wrong I think the heart of the matter is why there are not options to customize a workspace that fits a personal workflow. ie why not just have an option for all functions as tools and/or commands? The 'confusion' (for less advanced users and for the picky) arises when one goes to a tool set for walls, roofs and slabs but to a command pulldown for pillars, floors and roofs? Why not just have an option for a tool you can click once (Create roof face) instead of having to click twice (e.g. AEC>click>Create Roof Face>click) Or to the 3D modeling tool set for 3D geometry and push-pull editing but to the Model pull down for subtracting/adding etc. Quote Link to comment
VincentCuclair
I'm ignorant of most things Vectorscript but it seems to me it can't be to hard to have a tool that runs the same script as the command? Quote Link to comment
VincentCuclair
Ah, in that case not worth banging our heads against the wall for....... Quote Link to comment
