waszak-the-lamper21
Is there a way to change the names of lights in the visualization palette? it gets confusing trying to figure out which light is which when you have a lot.. Quote Link to comment
propstuff
Select the light and open the Data tab of the Object info pallette. at the top Quote Link to comment
michaelk
Spotlight instruments in the Vis Palette list are named 3 ways: 1st: Channel # 2nd: Purpose 3rd: UID# All instruments when they are created get a UID#. (unique id?) So a back light in channel 32 would be listed as something like 32Bax1234.1.1.0.0 If there is no channel information or purpose information entered in the OIP then only the UID will be listed. Enter channel numbers and/or purposes in the OIP to make the list more readable. hth Quote Link to comment
michaelk
...But Propstuff is correct for non spotlight lights (ie. regular VW light objects: directional, spot, point, custom, surface, and line lights) In spotlight lights the top field in the data tab will show the automatically generated uid number. I don't recommend messing with it. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee klinzey Posted May 5, 2010 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted May 5, 2010 It's safe to change the name of the rendered light in the Visualization Palette. Just don't change the name of the Lighting Device in the OIP, it will get overwritten. Quote Link to comment
waszak-the-lamper21
Ok so just to clarify, I have a project with 15 MAC 550's, and it is safe to go to the data tab and change the name of each of them?? i.e. SR truss, SL truss, etc...? Quote Link to comment
