billgore
I'm adding doors to my plan and I have some doors that are going to have 2" wide frames at the jambs but at the head I need it to be 4". how would one go about doing this? Quote Link to comment
brudgers
I think he means the frame, not the leaf. Such frames are common for commercial 7'-0" doors in masonry walls. So far as I am aware, the standard door plugin cannot have a variable width frame...at least that's the case in VW2008. It can be faked for rendering by: set jamb width = 0 interior trim = 2 exterior trim = 2 lintel thickness = 2 lintel angle = 90 exterior trim thickness = interior trim thickness = lintel protrusion assign same material to lintel and trims. For 2d you will get a line betwen the trim and lintel. Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
Yeah, that's what I was thinking too... Ah well - sigh - Quote Link to comment
billgore
Yeah I was talking about the frame. I don't see any way to do it. It would be nice to get that worked into the next version though. We do a lot of commercial masonry structures and the 4" head frame with 2" jambs is kind of common. Quote Link to comment

You could use a custom symbol and attach a door record to it if you really need the 3d enough to justify it. Otherwise, it could be handled with schedules and legends and a little drafting. Jeffrey W Ouellette
Can WinDoor do it? Quote Link to comment
gScott
in the windoor 12.5 PIO: 'opening sizes + types' 'custom head settings' change 'none' to 'sloping up from left' 'create mullions + transom' 'slope' = 0 'left spring' = 2" 'right spring' = 2" 'component sizes + style' 'common components' 'jamb thickness' = 2" this makes the leaf 2" shorter, so raise the overall height 2" if you want a standard door height this will not give a horizontal line across the "middle" of the top frame in a hidden line view... but it only works where the head is to be 2x or less the jambs' dimension... Gabriel Dziekiewicz
I switched from VW11.5 to 2010 recently. I noticed my file is not showing swings or leafs on any of my interior doors. I see the frame in plan but nothing else. All appropriate classes seem to be on. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Quote Link to comment
michaelk
Is it possible that the configuration is set to "cased opening" or the 3D open angle is set to 0? (I've made both those mistakes...) Quote Link to comment
