Does anyone know of a way to open Minicad 4,5,6 files in VW2008 or VW12?

Open them and save them in VW8 first.

How many files do you need to convert?

I'm honestly surprised that there isn't an online resource for this, where you can upload an early version file and it will post it back to you as a current version file. Legacy files are an issue and the lack of proper conversion tools only add to the every disappearing information problem....

We are looking to convert only a couple files now, but this has been an ongoing issue. Old jobs we are now adding on to or renovating. We would like a way of converting these files as needed.

Do you still have the install disks for VW8 (not 2008)?

If so then go buy a used first generation PowerPC G3 machine and install OS9 on it. Put it on the network with a shared volume that everyone can drop files onto.

Then open them in VW8 and Save to a different folder on the shared volume (to make the converted ones easier to find). These will then open in VW2010 (or earlier) just fine.

For now, if you email me the files off-list, I will be glad to convert them for you and send them back.

Any PPC running 10.4.11 or earlier with Classic v9.02 installed should also work.
