lineweight
Hi, I'm trying to model a ramp, but maybe my mindset is wrong. How does one create a ramp that sweeps along a profile curve (starting at 0 and going to a height of 1000mm). Or how do you sweep a rectangle (1200mm wide x 1000mm high) along a curve with an end height of 0. Attached is the image of the drawing. Thanks! Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
Hi There Lineweight, Try the "Roadway (Curved)" tool in the Site Planning toolset. See attached... Quote Link to comment
lineweight
Hi Peter, Thanks for the response, but unfortunately that isn't cutting it for me. This is frustrating because I have a curve, start height and end height. I simply want to sweep a rectangle down to a zero height...something very simple to do in other modeling programs, but I can't figure out how to do this here... Quote Link to comment
mike m oz
Easiest way is to do a partial sweep with negative pitch. Use a profile and a locus at the centre point of the arc. See example in attached file. If you double click on the swept object this will take you into the group and you will be able to see the two 2D components creating the sweep. There is some more information on sweeps here: http://architosh.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2372 Quote Link to comment
michaelk
The sweep is very powerful if you want the road to be an arc and the grade to be constant. If you want to follow a non arc curve, the loft tool will do exactly what you said: sweep a profile along a 3D curve. michaelk Quote Link to comment
