Rotated front view...

I think you are mistaken. A front view is no different than any other othogonal 3D view except it is set to the front of the ground plane.

Try this.

Use the rotate plan tool to make a face you want an elevation of parallel to the bottom of the screen.

Select the Set 3D View command and draw a line from the bottom of the screen to the middle of the face you want to see. Set the viewer height and look to height to zero and set the view to Orthogonal.

Save the View.

You should now be able to return to the elevation view relative to the rotated plan using the saved view.

When I do this I am able to slect and move both 2D and 3D objects.
