  1. Hey Jim.... that hybrid thing just made my day! muchas gracias! Buy an ice cream on your way home. You've earned it!
  2. OK I will need some time to study auto hybrids then. Thanks again
  3. On the other hand... In top/plan the line styles should be kept as originally drawn. There are no renderings there, no textures will be shown etc. For that you will need to be in top view at least. Even fills vanish - very annoying. In fact, most commonly renderings are made without lines at all to be realistic, - so yes, they don't matter. But then, why not leave them as they are? The line styles are of major importance in many cases and must be subject to a more userfriendly design. The line styles in 3d-views should be set in the rendering options, not automatically by the application. ("as drawn" (longer rendering) / "all plain black" / "no lines") This could be improved further... Maybe I'm still just unaware of the benefits in the present design, but I think 2015 needs an improvement there.
  4. You have a point there! Thank you for all answers.
  5. I've learned that it will show as a dotted line in viewports if assigned to a class with these settings. Still, in all other views it will remain as plain lines. One of the bets things about VW is "what you see is what you get". But here it's all just confusing. What is from the beginning the reason an object drawn with dotted lines in 2d is converted to plain line when extruded. If I had wanted it to be plain - that is what I would have chosen to start with.
  6. Is it possible to render 3d objects, walls etc with dotted lines - and also show them as such in top/plan view.
  7. A far more comprehensive format yyyy/mm/dd would be something to wish for.
  8. Thank you Tad, I will have to get upgraded.
  9. So I tried, but VW says "illegal objects selected".
  10. If using the method described in topic "modifying a roof" it works fine. I will start over with my roofs that way. Is there a simple way to join two perpendicular roofs so that no faces are left at the intersection and inside the attic? b- like a "join roofs" tool?
  11. How would you repair the damage if the cutout turns out to be wrong later on? Any "fill the gap" tool?
  12. In 2010 "textures by class" can not be applied in OI/render, if the roof has been edited with the subtract solids tool. In fact textures disappear if done afterwards. Only basic roof shapes can be used with textures by class as I understand it. Is this a 2010 bug, fixed in later versions or am I doing something wrong? Appreciate some quick help....
  13. In the attribute palette there is a great feature: opacity can be set individually to any object. My wish is an additional option to show lines hidden behind the object as dashed lines, as in hidden lines render.
  14. Many community boards have a "problem resolved" button, only to be used by the topic owner to signal that he/she has received the help needed and that no more help is required. This is also useful when searching for answers to subjects. No need to read all the answers if they don't eventually end up with a solution. Would be my wish for VWCB.
  15. Selecting is not he problem. Editing the values of the leader is.
  16. I use the number stamp tool from time to time. I also inserted a text as a leader. Now I need to change the leader text (identical) of about a hundred stamps and wonder if anybody knows how to do this without doing it one by one?
  17. Aloha, you made my day! How could I miss that? Thanks a lot! Getting help from as far away as Kauai is fantastic.... have a nice day.
  18. I tried the file on another computer and it all works fine. Maybe I have to reinstall VW on the other one. There might be major trouble coming up on that one. All apps crash from time to time - now this...
  19. It's set to scaling, double even. I get snap points along the line, but not at the ends. And if i draw a rectangle I only get reshape handles - no move handles(cross) in the corners. There are a couple on each edge, but not in the corners.
  20. The reshape handles will not show any more att end of lines and corners. VW prefs are set to 8 handles. This happened suddenly. what's wrong?
  21. For the time beeing we use the ltscale function in AC, but I still need help to understand this....... Anyone clever enough?
  22. I just had both coffee and ice cream....still I doubt that is possible to do with a file of 35Mb, more than 100 viewports, 50 sheet layers, 25 saved views etc....As I said a complex drawing. I will try though with a single layer... >>>>>>didn't work. As I understand it vw lines are defined to match the printed drawing or the viewport if you want. The idea of "seeing what you get" is managed by using different scales in the design layers. In the viewport line-, hatch- etc scales can be adjusted somewhat. In AC you always work in 1/1 in model space and the lines scale with the printout scale. I'm not sure this is a correct description, but if so, it's the first time AC seems far better or at least easier to understand. Probably a lot more line types are needed in AC, to match all different scales. I don't know where this leaves me.....confused at least!
  23. Thanks Peter for helping. I am aware of the methods you describe, they don't help though. The real problem is that I need to export to dwg for AutoCad. When they open the file all lines look unstyled. If you zoom close enough you realize the dash styles are all scaled to 1:100. I thought that changing all layers to 1/1 before export would solve the problem. In AC lines styles can be rescaled using ltscale commands(changed from 12.700 to 500) , but they don't want to do that every time the get a file from me. They want it right from the beginning, and I think that is a fair request. I don't manage to get a grip on the problem. When I change the layer scale from 1/100 to 1/1 the dash styles don't scale up. So there I have a problem regardless the dwg export. Dash styles can be edited, but to a limited extent. A 100 times upscale is not possible. There should be an option to scale dash patterns just the way there is an option to scale text. I also tried to copy/paste a line that looks ok in another 1/1 file - as a replacement, but it scales down too when pasted. I sincerely appreciate all help I may get.
  24. I have made a complex drawing with all layers in scale 1:100. Now I need to set all layers to 1:1. Then the line dash styles don't scale with the drawing. How do I scale of the dash styles?
  25. When exporting all saved views to dwg, the dwg files automatically get the corresponding view names (in my case all views are given the correct dwg file names). But when a single saved view is exported it gets the name as the VW file. It would be more practical to have it the same way with single files.
