can a pdf import be greyed?

Hi all-

I imported a site survey, sent to me in pdf from the surveyor.

I would like to see it greyed on the sheet layer.

I've tried to grey the design layer, I've tried to grey the visibility in the viewport, but it retains the black lines.

any suggestions?

any other graphic tricks to reduce the visual impact of the survey? it's on its own design layer.

Draw a rectangle over the PDF, give it a solid white fill (or similar) with no line weight then play around with the opacity?

Or just change the opacity of the design layer itself...(in design layer edit pallet).

Create a grey class and attribute your pdf to this and adjust the opacity to how you want it. This can then be done independently in the design layers and the sheet layers

trying to follow all your ideas - never worked with opacity before and turns out I need Quartz imaging on.

then i could play with opacity of the original design layer.

oops - not so great....

I need Quartz imaging off, because the font I'm using (tekton, by Adobe) needs it off in order to kern properly....

greying the layer or class does not work.

any other ideas to get a faint survey with a dark site plan?

Use the layer transfer mode, it's in place of the opacity on the design layer edit. Tray overlay or the others...to see wich one fit's your needs
