Direct reshape of floors

wvancampen

Question

Currently (I believe) to reshape a floor that's not a regular shape, you have to double-click it first and then use the 2D Reshape tool. Why this intermediate step--why not directly use the 2D Reshape tool as with regular polygons?

Also, when double-clicking, everything else disappears, making it difficult/impossible to reshape in context. At the very least, there should be an option akin to "Show other objects while in groups."

If you really need to see the surrounding objects, there is a workaround. Draw a new polygon/line with the shape you need. You could even use Convert Copy to Polygons on the existing floor. Cut the new polygon.

Double click to edit the floor. Select and delete the existing polygon/polyline. Paste in Place to put the new poly into the floor object. Exit the floor object.

Kind of a pain, but easier than editing blind.

You can actually go into the floor object, copy the poly, exit the floor and paste in place on the design layer. This will give you the shape to edit. Then cut and paste in place to put it back into the floor.

I agree that it would be better to be able to directly edit.
