Andrew Coombes
We run VectorWorks 10.5 as our mainstay CAD app., but our engineers and most of our external consultants use AutoCAD. Has anyone done any work on using the automatic class tools in VW 12/2008 to align VW classes/layers with AutoCAD layers? Does it work? I am hoping to upgrade our system next year and this would be one (of many) of the justifying reasons - if it works. Andrew Coombes CAD Services Manager Hampshire County Council Quote Link to comment
0 Guest
I've used it time and time again both at work and as a user. I've found it to do exactly what it is supposed to do. Quote Link to comment
0 gScott
if you mean, can you tell autocad layers to map to VW classes , taking the names of the imported DWG layers into VW classes ? yes, VW 12 can do it... however, if you mean the kind of function that microstation had as far back as '92, where you could define that autocad layer X would import to class/layer Y? no, VW 12 will not do this. I miss it since it left the Mac platform. It was years ahead of the competition. Did you know it had parametric solid modelling already back then? Quote Link to comment
0 Jonathan Pickup
can you use the layer and class mapping? Quote Link to comment
