jbrhwy
I have installed VW2008 Fundamentals, Landmark, Renderworks. When attempting to save any workspace I get the following message "The following Plug-ins are not in the Plug-ins folder: Bulb Flat"? Reinstalled 2 times & all other structual shapes are in the plug-in folder, any suggestions Quote Link to comment
Guest
When you suggest saving a workspace, how are you "saving" it? Is this just after making a change to a workspace and exiting the workspace editor? Is this a workspace carried over from an earlier version, or one built in with VW 2008? Check the permissions on the whole VW 2008 folder and ensure you have read/write permissions for everything including subfolders. Quote Link to comment
Cris with no H
It is also possible that this particular plug-in was recently updated. Taking it out of your workspace and immediately putting it back in may solve the problem. Spotlight users went through this some time ago. Cris Dopher Quote Link to comment
jbrhwy
Katie The Bulb Flat plug-in is not being installed by the installer & is not any where on my computer. When I open any of the existing VW2008 workspaces using the workspace editor & then hit OK, with or without making changes I get the error. All of the other structual shape plug-ins are there: angle, channel, I-beam, etc. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Robert Anderson Posted September 23, 2007 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted September 23, 2007 If you have Landmark, this plug-in may be in the workspace in error. Simply remove it. Quote Link to comment
jbrhwy
Robert The problem is that the plug-in Bulb Flat is not in any of my workspaces or anywhere on my computer, therefore, I can not remove. I am getting error because it is not available. See above postings. Quote Link to comment
ccroft
I've seen this message after an upgrade when using a custom workspace from the earlier version, and before I've added the custom plugins that are included in that workspace to the new plugin folder. It's possible to have a tool icon in a workspace without the corresponding plugin in the plugin folder or anywhere else on your computer, and when that happens this is exactly the error message you get. As to why you're getting this with a stock workspace....? It still seems that somehow this condition must exist. Edited September 24, 2007 by ccroft Quote Link to comment
Guest
Can you go into the workspace editor and remove this from the workspace and exit successfully? Quote Link to comment
panthony
I have recieved this error upon opening and modifying the workspace. Added no plug-ins and brought none over from a previous version. Cannot find the plug-in reffered in either the workspace editor or the plug-in editor. It appears the hard coded system is looking for a plug-in that does not exist. Pete Quote Link to comment
Guest
What workspace do you have selected when you go into the workspace editor? Quote Link to comment
panthony
Architect...the one it defaulted to when I first loaded 13. Quote Link to comment
jbrhwy
Katie I have tried all built-in workspaces (Classic, Landmark Classic, Landmark & Standard) using the original default file with the same result. The problem must lay with the installation DVD. The Bulb Flat plug-in has never been in any previous version of Landmark. Being using MiniCad/VectorWorks since 1990. Quote Link to comment
Guest
I can't duplicate it on my computer at home, but I don't think I installed from the disk either. I'll check tomorrow when I get in. Quote Link to comment
Guest
I can duplicate this and will add it to the database. Workspaces changes can still be saved by choosing "Yes" in the dialog. Quote Link to comment
jbrhwy
Katie You can save only if you haven't made any changes. What is "Bulb Flat" plug-in? & why can't I get a copy so I can get start using Vectorworks 2008. Quote Link to comment
Guest
When I get the error, it's following by a box asking if I want to save the workspace anyways with a Yes or No option, and the workspace change is stored. I see you are on a Mac, I'll have to test it there. Quote Link to comment
Guest
I'm not getting the message on my mac, but some others are. They were still able to successfully save their workspace. Do you not get the prompt asking if you want to save the workspace anyways? Quote Link to comment
ionw
If you can't save changes to workspaces, you may need to verify your permissions of your workspace folder, and contents. It may be that the the flat bulb plugin is a red herring, and it is actually a permissions issue. I know without a doubt you can save changes to a workspace that is trying to access plugins that are no longer there, and use it just fine. jbrhwy
ionw Permissions are all read/write, but it appears that workspace files in VW2008 are different format than previous versions. "I know without a doubt you can save changes to a workspace that is trying to access plugins that are no longer there, and use it just fine", have you tried this with 2008?. Katie Yes I got the prompt, but when the workspace was reopened it wasn't saved. Quote Link to comment
jbrhwy
Katie Just checked "Landmark Classic.vww" Workspace with TextEdit & it does require BULB - " " Quote Link to comment
Bruce Kieffer
I had the same error on one of my two Macs. I just ignored it. Quote Link to comment
Guest
jbrhwy Can you send me your workspace (zipped or stuffed), please? Quote Link to comment
jbrhwy
Hello Katie I have emailed you all workspaces installed by the Fundementals, LandMark, Renderworks DVD, they all contained the Bulb Flat plug-in as confirmed by viewing with TextEdit. For my information what is the Bulb Flat plug-in? Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Robert Anderson Posted September 26, 2007 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted September 26, 2007 It's a structural shape, used more in the UK I think than in the US. (In the US it's also called a "bulb tee"). Quote Link to comment
