Bill Russell
I'm new to VW. I'm still trying to understand the use of wall styles. Can wall styles be defined for different wall types, like existing, new and demolished walls? Can wall styles be created for foundation walls and footings? Thanks for your help. cbaarch
walls styles are basically walls that have a name rather then not. they both can have components the styles walls show up in the drop down menu they NNA walls are stored in the Libraries Folder custom walls are stored in the document (unless copied to the default mcd drawing in the library) Quote Link to comment
P Retondo
I use styles to define the basic geometry of the wall type, and classes to distinguish between new and existing. Duplicate an existing style in the resources browser to create something new, and edit the components. Quote Link to comment
Bill Russell
Thanks for the reply. Is anyone willing to share their wall styles library? I guess some "wall" styles don't have to be walls. I've seen where some have used dashed lines for footings and other wall linings. Any other suggestions? Quote Link to comment
P Retondo
Things like dashed lines for footings are better implemented through classes, so that they can be dashed in one viewport and solid in another. Just set your wall style options to "use class" at the appropriate locations. Quote Link to comment
dcont
I think the best part of the wall styles system is being able to swap out different walls that have different components/thicknesses and anchoring a particular side or part of the wall to be fixed. This is great when you decide you want a brick wall or 2x6 wall but need the extra thickness to be offset to the interior. Anyways, create the dashed with classes rather than embedding that in the wall style. That works. Edited August 20, 2007 by dcont Quote Link to comment
