acdeslx
Hello all, I've recently starting using the "key to instrumentation" tool to help generate a legend. When I create new symbols, the symbol name does not appear beside the symbol as it does with the native VW symbols. I have attached a "light info record" with the "3d symbol name", "model name" and "inst. type" fields filled in. Am I missing something here? Oh and is there a way to modify the template that is used? Thanks, Dave Hall Alternative Concepts Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee klinzey Posted April 27, 2007 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted April 27, 2007 The key to instrumentation is just a group on the page. When you want to update the key you ned to run the command again. There is no way to adjust the default format. Once you are done making changes to the plot, you can simply deit the group and make changes to the layout. Quote Link to comment
brents
When you create a new symbol is it a hybrid symbol? (ie 2d and 3d components) If not that may likely be your problem. Quote Link to comment
Cris with no H
The symbol must have been used as an actual Instrument object at least once. This is a good thing, since you may be working from a template that has your whole library saved in it - and you wouldn't want to be listing unused symbols. Cris Dopher Quote Link to comment
bjw
I've had this problem while editing the instrument type (because the long names annoy me) If you edit the 2D symbol, click on empty space, and then go to the Data tab in the Object Info Palette you can enter all of the pertinent data for the new symbol. Then it'll appear in the Key as the name you want. The order they appear in has to so with the order you put them in. Quote Link to comment
