  1. Thanks Kevin. I've already adjusted my OpenGL preferences, though Transparency is no longer an option for OpenGL rendering. I've only got two instruments in the test file I'm using right now, and they are both assigned Default Instrument Texture by Class, and I adjusted that texture to include transparency by color just in case. Any other ideas? I really appreciate the help...first day of class is Tuesday and I'd really like to solve this by then. -B
  2. My Signature is Incorrect. I'm using a Macbook Pro 2.53Gz, 8gb Ram OS 10.9.1, Vectorworks 2013 SP 5
  3. For some reason, in the past three days, VW 2013 has stopped rendering my Spotlights (added via Instrument Insertion tool) in OpenGL. They work fine in Fast Renderworks, however. Lights added via the Light Tool, however, render fine in both OpenGL and Fast Renderworks. I have all ambient and indirect lighting turned off, we are viewing in Unified View, and all pertinent Layers are on. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it, and I can't nail down the timeline perfectly, but I DID recently reset my Saved Setting. Any thoughts? thanks!
  4. Working on the same problem here, I'm wondering if there's a way to apply sorting hierarchy tags in the Instrument Schedule the same way you would with an Editable Worksheet...?
  5. I'm guessing that someone else has noticed this, but I couldn't quickly find a thread about it. I'm running 2013 SP2 on a MacBook Pro and many of my Rosco ambers are displaying as green. In particular R16 and 316 are killing me a bit. Prior to the SP2 install Everything from R12-r321 was displaying green, but the update has fixed the upper and lower ranges. No luck so far with the middle R15-R18 range. Is there any help to be had? thanks -Brandon
  6. Problem solved--I was using an old version of the instrument body.
  7. That's what I initially thought, but positions are all turned off right now. I tried deleting it, but to no avail.
  8. I'm having a problem where I can see the emitted light in Fast Renderworks but not in the "with shadows" mode or Custon RW. I've doublechecked that my default instrument texture doesn't cast shadows, and I can see that the emitter is on in all modes. I'm sure there's a simple fix for this, I just can't figure it out. Help is appreciated
  9. Adding to this Wish List, I'd love a way to globally rotate a hatch so the "concrete", for example, doesn't appear quite so repetitive.
  10. An update on this problem that has recently resurfaced. Resetting the defaults then restarting the computer seems to solve the problem in OS 10.6.4
  11. Is there a way to section through my 3d theatre at 6'? I haven't been able to find an easy way, though I'm sure there is one. Thanks!
  12. I'm sure there's a simple answer to this question, but is there a way to created hatched sections in a Section Viewport? I can't seem to find a properties option that would let me do this. My walls are extruded polygons (it's a theatre) and I can't get them to take a patter or hatch. any help would be appreciated -B
  13. SOLVED. Sort of. For me, at least. I got the functionality back, though I'm not entirely sure what I did. In case someone else has this annoying problem, here are the steps I went through: In System Preferences>Keyboard. Restore all to defaults (except Expose/Dashboard). Try messing with the keyboard shortcuts such as Cntrl>F1, which toggles universal access. I haven't been able to re-create the problem, but this might have done it. For the record, I'm not certain if the shortcut is Cntrl>F1 or Cntrl>fn>F1 That URL is: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1343 Another thing I did earlier was unplug a peripheral mouse while the computer was asleep. This has never been a problem before, but I think perhaps the computer was expecting a mouse wheel click rather than a trackpad input. Don't know, just a hunch. I went into System Prefs and opened up the Logitech dialog, which told me there was no mouse installed. This didn't help initially, but perhaps the system reset when I let it sleep again. Hope this helps
  14. This is a little late in coming, because I eventually found a way around the problem. The answer to both of the previous questions is "yes". The file was originally created in VW12.5 and the symbols came from a previous version of VW. I'm not sure about the record formats, though that's probably the likely answer. The solution was to use the standard symbols included with VW2010. thanks guys
  15. I all of a sudden have exactly the same problem. I've restored all of my keyboard shortcuts to default and have been looking over the help menu for an hour now. The list of things that don't work include: spacebar pan shift-select multiple items eyedropper tool Strangely enough, option- keys still work, such as option-2 still gives me double line mode. I can't figure this out and it's killing me right now. Any help would be greatly appreciated. -Brandon
  16. I see no one has had this problem before...but I have a new twist on it: The instruments aren't actually disappearing, there just seems to be a bug in the program where they simply don't appear. I can renumber my positions, then if I turn the visibility of my "instruments" class off then on again they reappear, all good. It's very weird, and I wish it wouldn't happen, but at least there's a way around it. Any chance this is a compatibility issue between an old, many times updated file? It was originally created in 12.5, then upgraded to '08, '09, and finally '10. ??
  17. So I've got a weird problem I've never experienced before. I'm using drafting of a theatre I've designed in before, but this is the first time in 2010. I can place instruments and assign information to them, but every time I manually set the positions to Auto Number, the instruments on that pipe disappear. Has anyone encountered this problem? Any thoughts?
  18. I'm using VW2010 for the first time. Every time I import data from Lightwright my label positions reset to their default location...this really sucks. Is there an option I'm not aware of that could solve this problem?
  19. Aha! Yes, I imported my 2009 Workspace. Thanks
  20. I just upgraded to 2010, SP2 on a Macbook Pro running OS10.5.8 and the stair.vso is missing from the plugins folder. It's there in the VW2009 folder, but not in the new one. I get a big, red, X in the Building Shell Toolset where it should be. I've reinstalled, looked over the knowledgebase, and searched the Techboard. Is there any way I can just manually move the stair (and simple stair!) .VSOs from the CD? Thanks
  21. I have the same problem with Sketchup imports, doesn't matter if it's SKP 6 or 7, the machine just pinwheels. If I try to export to DWG and then import to VW I get a totally unusable wireframe version. Of course, I've never had much luck going from SKP to VW on either of my Macs.
  22. Hah. Thanks again. I'll check it out
  23. I just upgraded to a Macbook Pro, and even though I generally draft using a trackball mouse, I sometimes need to navigate VW09 using the trackpad. I've found that if I zoom too much using the trackpad it gets "stuck"--the screen doesn't redraw and if I use a directional to try to force it to redraw i just zooms in and out, still with very poor resolution. Is this just the way it works or is there a new option I'm not aware of?
  24. Again with a late entry, but I find myself asking the same question. Sometimes I get theater drawings from people with more of an architectural background (that or their teachers did). There are often a million layers and classes--so many that the drawing becomes almost useless to me until I rework the drawing and delete most of the classes that are of no use to me. I should mention that I work primarily as a lighting designer, so I use Spotlight quite a bit. When I'm responsible for the scenic design, I tend to organize my layers first by the type of View (Plan, Section, etc) and then what is on it. So an example would be: Plan Theatre Plan Set Section Theatre Section Set Plan Details Elevation Plan Positions (LX) Section Positions Instruments Areas etc... I use this method assuming the person receiving the drawings knows less about Vectorworks than I do...which is almost always the case.
  25. I've updated to Service Pack 2, but I find the same thing. The Unique ID is set to Mark, which I wasn't sure was right. Changing it, however, didn't change the Autolink selections.
