help in adding avatar

how do i add an avatar? i do not understand the following. i do not have a web site.

"URL to your avatar (72x72 max pixels, may be smaller) (.gif, .jpg, .png accepted)"

also some of you add pictures to your posts. how do you do this?

To add an avatar go to "My Home" towards the top, click on edit for "Personal information, email, password, etc.", then scroll down toward the bottom. There you can choose a stock avatar already built into the forum or you can add a link to a picture you have somewhere on the internet.

If you have a picture you want to use then join up with http://flickr.com and upload it there, it's free (if you do that then I'll show you how to get the exact address of the image).

To add images to posts you first have to click on Reply to go to the comprehensive Reply form, then you click on "Image" under "Instant UBB Code" which will prompt you for the address of the image you have uploaded somewhere else on the net (again you could use flickr.com to uload images) and then create the right code for you, like so:

[img=http://domain.com/image] 

The other way is just to type out the code manually as per above.
